Never read any of his children’s books but his adult fantasy are really fantastic with sly digs at modern society. A master of his craft and a sad loss. Death is one of his characters and I don’t know if he wrote it himself but he went off arm in arm with his character. He had been a press officer for the atomic energy authority and said that has books paled into insignificance compared to real life in that organisation.
Never read any of his books, kids or adults.

They are very mixed in quality IMO with some very good and others not so. Avoid any of the more recent ones written in collaboration with somebody else. He was hit by Altzhiemers which would have been affecting him then probably.

Good morning:hello:
Others are off on a Munro jaunt,
me ? I'm hanging pictures and mirrors later,
don't think the legs would have been up for it, maybe a Marilyn soon:whistle:

Blisteringly hot.

Bike ride to a forest planned, coz it has shade...
That's why I prefer the other three seasons of the year for pedalling

It was actually quite nippy out this morning!

What's the one smaller than a Munro? A Corbett or something?

We've since realised it isn't too bad ouside: the blind is broiken in our kitchen and it is currently acting like a conservatory in the mornings.

I just looked up Wikipedia for the Breisgau, the area I now live and work:

"The climate in this area is close to a Mediterrean microclimate, and there is adequate rainfall year-round. However, more year-round rain occurs than in the Rhine plateau because of the closeness to the Black Forest ["Close" is an understatement, you fling a brick from our village you'll hit a tree...]. The Köppen Climate Classification subtype for this climate is "Cfb" (Marine West Coast Climate/Oceanic climate). However, it is close to being humid subtropical (Cfa) due to the mean temperatures in July and August just under 22 °C. The city is close to the Kaiserstuhl, a range of hills of volcanic origin located a few miles away which is considered to be one of the warmest places of Germany and therefore considered as a viticultural area. </ref: https://www.blackforest-tourism.com/Media/Villages-and-cities-from-A-Z/Ihringen-at-the-Kaiserstuhl> "

That explains why I haven't needed my coat for a few weeks...
