You get a few from down there, on a regular basis then.
So those that "spot", what are they actually doing?
Perth and Adelaide?

25 ain't too shabby.
Why you annoying Toodles, she'll get you back you know.
What's on the telly?

Can you remember where you put it?

Yeah, they appear most days..
they are 'listening', radio or more often SDR unit coupled with software which monitors many bands and modes (windows and raspberry pis).
SDR units are amazing,
I have one that covers 1 khz to 2,000 Mhz, coax and antenna and yer in.
It runs into a dedicated program (free) and once audio etc is set up, the world is your oyster..

I hear the holy whirlwind shouting, I better go

Appear most days. Radio not spread down that far south?
Listening for what or who?
Seeing what's going on on the airwaves(school project type stuff) and recording it. Or a tool to find where there's traffic coming from, and frequency(ies), before trying to contact them. I'm old school, verbal communication on the airwaves preferred.

What you done now!

Down to the time, propagation
and what frequency I'm on..
I've not been that much today, just over 100 cards to reply to..
labels all printed off and I'll get round to sticking them on over the next few days then send across the border to card HQ.
All cleared at this end, one card, says Lena and call belongs to someone who ain't Lena, problem with folk changing their call plus Google not throwing me any clues, oh well.

I've always been more of a listener and have my side projects too.
I don't listen to hams, hell, no..
plus not much else going on like there used to be.

Tonight will be taken up looking at the electrics of a Mini Cooper S......

You can't use it to find new contacts then. Set it up and leave running for a day or so?
Then try contacting any that are picked up.
100 from today? The Whirlwind been keeping you busy.
It's not that Russian dog in outer space is she.

With the number of side projects you've mentioned, I'm surprised you've found time to do anything.
Don't like talkies.
Getting expensive, and CB radio did for a few that were into ham radio round here. Either blocking their signal or they switched.

Who's car and do they know.

It's kids plastic sit in and go one but it isn't going:laugh:
I'm leaning on the remote control etc unit being faulty as power in no problem and nothing out to drive or lights,
dash clock lights are working but nothing else.
Thought maybe wrong wires round but PCB in unit is in perfect condition, magnifying glass out to check for dry joints component damage.
I'll try bypassing the unit straight to the drive motor,
I have find wire first..

The whirlwind has arrived and quiet today,
luring us into a false sense of security..

cards? half have had labels stuck on them,
much easier doing it this way.
Updated my screen dumps of settings so I'm not puzzled next time round..

Dunno if the hobby is that expensive, I got a Trio (now Kenwood) &S 680 (or was it 840) plus a hefty power supply in the late 80s and it cost 1100 quids, I can get something now, an Xiegu 20w job for just over 400 quids, needs a power supply 100 or less ? a dipole antenna ? cost of wire and coax? not bad.
I've threatened to buy one myself...
I moved up from CB although I'd been a short wave listener since a boy.
I have screwing to do, then figure out why seeds not germinating outside.
They could be in the loo soon.
I know there is a good joke there but too far...
Officially dry so far....

One of those Mini Cooper's...
Find the wires on the motor/gearbox and follow them back from there. A common weak spot is where they've been fed through the plastic, grommets often missing to get the wires through.
Failing that, just disconnect the gearbox and push her round in it.

Maybe she'll take pity on you as you fix "her" car, and start handing you bits she thinks you need.

If it's going too easy, check! You might have missed something.
Keeping a record of how to do it?

I last priced the kit up a few months before Maplins knew for certain they were going. Full setup wasn't cheap, if you were just starting out..
CB radio in the loft somewhere, or should be.
Screwing things up, doesn't sound like you. Seeds, just throw them in, leave them and get a new lot. Then the one's you threw will start to do better than the new ones.
Wet day here.

Once the wee yin goes home, I'll try the 'battery to drive motor'...
The other connections are all on a wiring loom which looks okay.
All off and clicked back on, just the same.

107 cards all ready to be sorted into countries then postie, postie do not tarry
Royal Mail? why not sell that to the private sector as well,
it would be more efficient in the hands of some of these next day delivery companies and the top heavy management would get ragged, bagged and dumped...
ever noticed it is always the manual workers who are first to go?
(I don't believe in privatisation tbh)

Give her all the horses! Would that be wise indoors at 15mph?
Might sound too simple, but are any of the switches on the dashboard showing any signs of melting.

That poor postie, 107 of your cards to carry. Maybe not yet, but 2nd class three times a week.
Doubt it. Those private companies can be worse than Royal mail. Items delivered to random addresses in the wrong area, Leeds postcode delivered here. Only 18 miles away.
Those at the top get the wages of those at the bottom added to theirs.
I believe you.

Pip de Toodle...
Can't hear a thing...

There's a jackhammer beating out a short beat, pausing before repeating. Stone saws...
Toodles on her way to see how well you've repaired her car?

Rain here weren't too light for the first three hours today. So a wet day, again.
What's wrong with seven days from the other side of the world. Remember when you could be waiting that long for a parcel delivered from outside the county?

Don't overdo the busy, you might need some for later...
And no pipping Toodles...

Started wet here but there's sunshine, and a bit of a breeze now.

Cold enough to snow?

Flurries reported to the W of me but not lying..
We'd a brief one again but too wet to lie.
24.3 mm just now and not yet half a day...
Can't hear a thing...

I'll look at the car again over the weekend...
She's been her normal, her auntie is here so I get a break but I'm in charge all day tomorrow...
If I don't appear, she's being a handful...

That was my meaning I've waited longer on UK deliveries.

Almost time for lunch,
burnt rolls, square (lorne) sausage, fried onions, broon sauce......heaven on a roll
