Sigh. I did a re-run of the TTT earlier today with ghosts from my other team members. After what felt like significantly more effort, I shaved off a whopping 3 seconds from my previous time.
My initial thought was to stick on Goldwolfie & bert1971's wheel. But I was weak from the start and didn't even catch up to the team until ~6 minutes into the ride, at which point we must have been on a downhill and I blew by Goldwolfie & bert1971. They caught me before the climb was over and I didn't see them again until the last half-mile or so. Essentially I did no drafting and matched my time from the TTT run.
I wonder if I should have just stuck with Goldwolfie & bert1971, even if it meant slowing down during the first half of the ride. Maybe that would have saved enough in my legs to keep up with them on the hill. I'd probably suggest the same for Rob.
Thursday looks like the best day next week to head back out into the real world, this time with the road bike and an external battery for the
gopro and grind back up Little Cottonwood. Going to shoot for 1:50 (still horribly slow from a historical standpoint, but would mean I only lost ~5 minutes from the end of last year to now which was roughly my goal when I decided to get the kickr for winter training -- in the past I would typically lose 20-30 minutes during the down months).
