As Chris Froome has so adequately illustrated on several occasions in the not so distant past.
I was going to mention Armstrong then but that would no doubt be a bit emotive.
Have you been on the Soarer diet AAAC, your sense of humour gene appears to have engaged. That's several times now you've made me laugh......not quite as many times as you've made me sob, admittedly, but that is in a different arena.

Sorry Bridgy I am just a bit old, the bicycle is a form of transport intended to be more efficient or quicker than walking (where efficiency could be load carrying).
If your only load is yourself then as your gearing approaches 1:1 then the concept of using a machine that can only add to your all up mass just becomes inefficient.
I was going to say pointless but riding a bike tethered to a turbo trainer, and thus going absolutely nowhere , is totally inefficient as a mode of transport.
Just because you meet the occasional steep section and need a really low gear doesn't mean it's slower than walking overall! You just need much lower gearing off road than on smooth tarmac!

Sigh. I did a re-run of the TTT earlier today with ghosts from my other team members. After what felt like significantly more effort, I shaved off a whopping 3 seconds from my previous time.

My initial thought was to stick on Goldwolfie & bert1971's wheel. But I was weak from the start and didn't even catch up to the team until ~6 minutes into the ride, at which point we must have been on a downhill and I blew by Goldwolfie & bert1971. They caught me before the climb was over and I didn't see them again until the last half-mile or so. Essentially I did no drafting and matched my time from the TTT run.

I wonder if I should have just stuck with Goldwolfie & bert1971, even if it meant slowing down during the first half of the ride. Maybe that would have saved enough in my legs to keep up with them on the hill. I'd probably suggest the same for Rob.

Thursday looks like the best day next week to head back out into the real world, this time with the road bike and an external battery for the gopro and grind back up Little Cottonwood. Going to shoot for 1:50 (still horribly slow from a historical standpoint, but would mean I only lost ~5 minutes from the end of last year to now which was roughly my goal when I decided to get the kickr for winter training -- in the past I would typically lose 20-30 minutes during the down months).

Friday night, another week of work survived so once gain it was time to get out the wine and flush all of the weeks cr*p out of me before I get my head down and have a good long sleep, just to wake up in the same old world again!!!!

Rerun of Thursday at 5 as usual? Even on a nice sunny afternoon I am probably just going to amble to the garage rather than out to the real world with flies and badgers and stuff.

The challenge of course for me is going to be slowing at the end to make it stretch over half an hour so I get my pro hat. Would be really annoying to do it in 29 minutes.

Sun!
I need sun, where the heck did it go. This was supposed to be a tropical weekend.
Head to Hampshire we've got loads of it. I was going to do stage 5 but I broke into a sweat walking to the garage. In town now for a bit of shopping then home to watch a bit of the Giro before lazing around in the sunshine and getting the bikes ready for a ride tomorrow morning with the club.

Just done only my second road ride of the year here in warm but a bit cloudy Hampshire - a nice 20 miler. Nice to be out on the road again but the flies are a bit of a bugger and as for the road surfaces . Needless to say you don't get any of those issues on the turbo :becool:

Re-run starts in 1 hour @5pm. As there was no ride waiting under the leagues tab I decided to challenge Bridgy who had challenged Adski so their ghosts will be with us during the race. I'm hoping this doesn't trigger a phantom start but if it does we'll do the usual which is to restart if it phantom starts with more than 3 mins warm-up still to go and make up the missing time. Any less than 3 mins to go and that will be the start.
