So apparently, one of the side affects of telling friends and family about Bkooling is you get labelled as someone who would be ideally suited to do a 12 hour spinning session for charity at short notice.....oh yes

So as you guys are partly to blame for getting me into this situation, I hope you don't mind me sharing the Just Giving page in case any of you would like to make a small sponsorship? (please don't feel in any way obliged - I appreciate you may have many other demands on your charitable donations funds!)

My brother is a firefighter, and he's the one who's roped me into this, so the charities are the firefighters charity and Cancer Research UK - http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fun...raiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=TomBridgman1

(This is my brother Tom's link as I am a late replacement for someone so don't have my own link, although I assure you I will be there sweating away! :heat:)

Do you have to do it in a fireman's outfit?

My new power pedals gave me numbers so close to Bkool, that I think maybe Bkool picked up the power from the pedals. The 5 watt more by the pedals could be because I started my Garmin a little late and therefore didn't record the relativly low power start.
Confirmed...that was actual power from the pedals:

AAAC we could have perhaps helped each other draft on one of the longish flat sections but timing would have been crucial for that. I ended up challenging MONTESINO but he destroyed me on the two main climbs while I pulled him back a little on the flats. I got overly slowed on 3 transitions so probably lost 20 or 30 seconds but pleased with my 5th place (or it was when I looked). I'll probably have to revisit the sessions I did worst in to try and climb a place or two. It's hard though. Much harder than last year.
Don't know what happened to the big live run. I was expecting it but ended up having to start my own.
Good strategy though: Start late then draft people along the way as you pass them. Might have to try that

When I was watching you last week, after doing it on my tod an hour earlier I noticed fmpando join after the 'crowd' was spread well along the route.
I looked for him a couple of times but he was hidden in the melee of riders but he did a spanking time to that gave me the idea boosted by a casual session I did a couple of weeks ago when the 10 sec countdown started in advance when I was not watching and I was 30 seconds late starting. There were a whole load of bots and people in the session and I notice how much I was helped cutting passed everyone grabbing their draft as I went.

Yes the same things I do.

I did consider the bepro's and the p1's. But I got the vectors for a good price at the time and the others were hard to get from stock.

Mine are consistant in their diference from bkool. I'll have to do a few sessions at different weights and see what comes out of it.

You all must remember that BKool Turbos do not measure power where as a power meter does.
At best I would only compare instantaneous readings on a steady slope up or level stretch. Downhill is pretty much pointless in my view if your BKool speed is blue

It depends if they're going to be running the Tuesday mass start or was that just for the four TDF stages. Mind you, I was really spurred on trying to beat Pinilla that session you watched so not sure I'd have done it as quick if I'd started late and was passing slower riders. That might work well if it were a flat course but not so well on hilly one. I'll give it a try though if I can find a session with a decent number of riders.
Now I'm taking it a bit more seriously and aiming for a top 10 finish I'll need to take any advantage I can get.

Next stage is only 5 km and 'flat'.
We might be able to help each other. It opens at the weekend so we can give it a look see to judge how suitable for drafting it is but at 5 km it will be bells out from the start and wait for no man so we would need to see how close we stay in the opening km. Stage 7 is mountain and 8 flat.
Perhaps we could drag some willing help in from the rest of the gang to grab and advantage.
Now you got me going, some could set off on time and wait at strategic points and we start late to grab their wheels later.
Skulduggery in the making!
