If that's what I need which one? Ardbeg, Highland park, Laphroaig, Talisker.... the collection goes on and on! And I wonder why my weight loss has stopped! Or is this to replace the water in the drinks bottle?

Laphroaig for me

I've spent a few happy nights sinking further and further into comfy chairs on that. Only problem is when you try and stand up!

I find Laphroaig is a great pain reliever. It smells like antiseptic and works wonders on my aches and pains. Always one for the hip flask for a cold day on Dartmoor!

That's pretty normal for me to be fair - used to be even higher when I was less fit!! some of these lower heart rates I see suggest to me some people just aren't trying hard enough
Mr xmas is getting me a heart rate monitor so it'll be interesting where my rate sits. It'll probably say I'm about to have a heart attack!

LIVING THE DREAM
Well done AAAC - I just couldn't live with you on the uphills today. in hindsight I wonder if I could have given it a bit more at the start and tried to get a gap on you while I was feeling good, but I had half an eye on those hills myself so wanted to save something!

As it was, I think that was all I could give it anyway so fair play to you - great ride!

This was my plan.
I assumed you were recovering still from man-flu and all I needed for GC was 11 seconds.
Step 1. Let Bridgy lead off and get to his wheel
Step 2. Let Bridgy do the work, don't give him any draft as this is going to be a 2 horse race.
Step 3. Test Bridgy on the first climb and try and lead over the top and let him chase.
Step 4. Who was the guy with the yellow hat, he was putting me off of my stride and where did he go?
Step 5. Test Bridgy repeatedly on the climbs but let him come back on the descents however try not to give him a wheel.
Step 6. Save a bit for the second bit of the final climb and smash it as this was going to be a race to the top.
Step 7. Hope that I would have enough of a lead to avoid embarrassment on the final descent.
Step 8. Warm down, have shower and go get Fish and Chips to celebrate a good win and take tomorrow off.

Haha! And no slurring, very impressive!

To be fair it's a miracle I stayed ahead of you there Bill. I went off much too quickly in hindsight and I was convinced you were going to catch me at the end. The downhills probably saved me to a large degree. That and standing up and grinding it out for most of that last hill. I'm with monte in that I'm not sure I'll be doing that one again.

I was wishing I'd gone off a bit faster and stayed with you as the gap between us was fairly constant the whole way. I couldn't haul you in though and even at the end when it got close I still couldn't do it. I don't think I've ever spent so long trying to catch someone before which made it a very tough ride. You did what you needed to do though Tommy and unless I can pull something out of the bag on Saturday your league position is safe.

Interesting what @bridgy said yesterday about improvements in cycling performance as I felt a lot better on the steep inclines today than any time in the past over such a long climb. It's possible that a weeks rest has worked wonders...

What's your Bkool name? I can't see you in the league
Ive not joined the leagues as my daughter goes to bed around 7ish (and can take over an hour to get to sleep) so it would not be easy to ride in the evenings. Can I ride the league rides separately and have the times counted?

Edit... and my bkool name is the same... daddy Pig :mrpig:
