Merry Christmas my fellow Cyclechat-ers. Santa:santa: has seen fit that I need to train on hills so is sending me to Tenerife to cycle up something called a volcano.:wahhey: It will be a good reason to set up my XTR cassette in preparation for Wales

Santa is always dropping presents down the wrong chimney:whistle:

Send it onto me Andy- you know you don't like the hills let alone mountains:tongue:

Cracking trip to look forward to!

I found a Garmin file, I think it was something like 16 miles @7℅ at 6-7mph, grinding at slow cadence. I want to be able to spin 85-90rpm. My XTR setup gives me a lower ratio than a standard triple crankset. I will record it on my Garmin.

To discuss the meaning of "fart", without anyone having a little giggle is probably going to be hard, but here goes ^_^:
Middelfart is a city that lies on Fyn just across from Jutland
Directly translated "middel" is middle and "fart" is speed, but in the old days "fart" was used to express going/traveling, mostly by sea.
So Middelfart means something like "The waters traveling between".
It makes sense since the spot where Middelfart lies, is where crossing between Fyn and Jutland has taken place for centuries.

We actually still use the word "fart" in conjunction with traveling: færgeoverfart = ferry crossing.

German, Fahren is to travel.
Rad fahren is to travel on a bike.
Auto fahren = car
Flugzeug fahren - plane
Zug fahren = train
And so on

Afternoon all.

Quick question for you. Does anyone have a 'dedicated' cadence sensor on their Bkool set-up as apposed to relying on the bkool cadence system?

The cadence my bkool reports is unreliable especially on those hill things.. I'm spinning away circa 80-100 rpm and it reports 35-50 etc... would a considered investment be of value in you opinion?

Cheers chaps.

Wahoo do a combined speed and cadence or a cadence only, see wiggle and alike. Garmin do the same, all about the same price. make sure it does bluetooth and Ant+

Merry Christmas All:cheers::snowball: :hungry:

Anyone fancy a pootle up Goat stage 5 (Hochter Ostrig) this afternoon at 5pm? It's not live yet but all you'll need to do is a short dummy run once it goes live and you can use todays time. The more food and alcohol you've consumed before this ride the better and the slowest rider who's eaten and drunk the most will be the real winner and deserve the highest kudos. Any photo's posted of drinking wine or whisky while on the turbo will get at least 5 minutes off your recorded time and any photos of riders lying in a pile of their own vomit after the ride will get at least 10 minutes off.

You lot are mad, and have understanding other halves. My crankset will well and truly be bent out of shape if I go near the bike today.

Might watch if I drag myself from the dining table. Just about to dig into our mega turkey

Besides I have a swollen head looking at my Xmas league places
