@rob01792 which trainer did you use tonight? You flew up the hill like a little goat :okay: I assume you was on the Pro.

yes the pro ill use that in bkool and neo in zwift I knew I could go hard as it wasn't too long before the descent

Thanks, did you wait for me uphill?

My pro behaved like the last time I raced in Bkool: Uphill watts were on par or under (sometimes up to 50 watt too little), downhill watts were consistantly higher (up to 50 watts), but It didn't do me any good since there were blue numbers.

My power meter read 220 watt, while Bkool read 307 watt, but the way Bkool works downhill, it's probably better to compare with the weighted avg power of 260-270 watt.
No I didn't wait for you on the uphill. I was just slowly reducing my effort as I went off too quick at the start so eventually you just hauled me in. I thought I could catch you on the short uphills but there weren't enough of those.

I think you (it) was about 45 seconds up on me. I remembered that your ave watts on that ride was about 250 so if I pushed on I knew I had a chance. Had the carrot not been there I may have free wheeled a bit, but I pushed the whole way. No way was I going to catch you though tonight - far too strong :notworthy:

Well I had LB there keeping me honest tonight so I really had to put in some serious effort. Most of that went into the start as I was still doing a bit of freewheeling downhill at anything less than -8 %. I even managed to stay ahead of Jacob for a minute or so.

Those are definitely brighter than mine on full power. For the longer rides I have to run on 1/4 power to make them last the whole 16 hours of winter darkness. And that's with two batteries. I'll not be doing that again anytime soon though as I'm still very wobbly on two wheels.
Still? I thought you'd have been over it by now. Is it getting better?

what was you running ? i dont get on with 50 -34 as when you change , its 3 gears to easy to get back to same cadence
i changed to 50 -36 on one 50 -38 on other
i didnt notice you spinning more than me up the needles
guess i will change to 34 before next trip - and try to learn spinning keeping heart rate down a bit !

This isn't the bike i used for iow, i was running 42/53 front with 25/11 back, fine for flats but nothing much else so I've put on a compact 34/50 with a 32/11 on the back on a bike that weighs 6.65kg  so it's now become my dry weather climbing bike with carbon wooshie wheels.
For France I'll be taking my disk braked bike that i used on iow.

i am tempted to unleash the secret weapon - only semi whooshie wheels but hoping they help on hills and flats

Meanwhile, over on the Dark Side, 5 cyclechatters took part on the Kiss Europe race last night watched by LBHIFI .Zwift link and new race features all working well. monte retired due to ill health. Jeff stormed away to a great finish and I hung on for 13th in C only to be disqualified and told to bump up to B were Berty had put in a great effort. Group riding, teamwork , is everything in these races and I for one am looking forward to us riding and drafting to success as Team Cyclechat in the future.

Ha! I was very pleased with that as you will see from my ride report in the splitters thread. Pleased that endurance held and I had in the last lap almost bridged the 1-30m gap to the lead group. Problem is I now have to race in the B's which is right given my w/kilo but rather worrying.
