AAAC, Blooming Hell, that is some gig list. Your daughter should be impressed. Seen most of the punk/new wave you saw and a few of the prog rock too.

Margret T blessed us single squaddies with plenty of beer tokens back in the early eighties and add to that a bag full of non-taxable LOA (Local Overseas Allowance) it was LOL all the way to the bank.
The German Government legislated that a high % of ticket sales had to be available on the door so ticket touting was almost non-existent.
In Detmold we were in the middle of Hannover and Dortmund with Essen and Dusseldorf only a stones throw further so there were no shortage of venues.
Travel on the Autobahns was excellent add on Petrol Coupons as well (free Benzine as well as LOL LOA) and no speed limit it was heaven on earth.
In the gig season it wasn't unusual for me and a mate to on on my motorbike on in his car on our way to see a big band at least once a fortnight.

Reading Rock was a bit more of a chore but a choice of many of us REME lads because of our time at Arborfield College.
A 5 hour or more drive to Zeebrugge and then a good few hours on the Ferry (once loaded) topped off with the 3 hour jaunt from Dover to Reading.
Getting there was not so bad but a late night Ferry back after a weekend of Rock and Roll and a 5 hour ride/drive back to barracks from the ferry just in time to get a shower and then on parade was a real slog, especially the time the heavens opened as with road away from the Ferry and soaked us through before we could stop and don our waterproofs.

Who's doing what tonight guys.
I might cancel my Liga challenge and have a go at the Giro instead to fill the hole until the Winter Cup starts.

Doing nothing tonight :cursing:. Whatever it was that caused the leg lock yesterday has left me with a calf problem. I tried to do a warm-up for a go at CG4 and it feels like somebody is sticking a rusty 6 inch nail up my right calf towards the back of my knee xx( :surrender:. I'm going to try some gentle stretches for my legs tonight and look at CG4 tomorrow afternoon.

Bombed it Dean.... left nothing behind and about half a minute slower. Your ghost disappeared :surrender: very tough stage and I certainly am not looking forward to CG5. It could be very close.

:highfive:

CG5 gonna be painful. I have to watch out for @Rod McG and @Aleman who could both cause me some trouble :ninja:I'm hoping they'll be too busy watching each other to be too concerned with me. Be nice to think I could challenge Brusgaard but on this course he should be 4+ mins ahead of me :surrender:
