Thursday @ 7pm - EPIC RIDE!!

50km with plenty of flat

Just 600m climbing in total

The hill at the start will break up the field somewhat but there's bound to be some teamwork in the middle of the course at some point!!

Clear your diaries for what will be something completely different to any other Bkool race!!

Pace yourself and I believe all of us can do this one! Do not under any circumstance push hard from the start if you arent used to this sort of distance!

Hi lads. I had a crack at Little cottonwood and emigration canyon tonight. Maybe not a great idea to do both in succession but sure why not!!

Anyway the reason for my post is more out of concern for my bkool - whenever the gradient was between 5 and 10% the turbo was making a loud clicking noise - if as a kid you ever taped some cardboard to the seat stays protruding into the spokes to make your bike sound like a motorbike then that's what it sounded like.
I checked thinking the rear dérailleur was about to disappear into the spokes but no it was definitely the turbo trainer. At one point it ground to a halt but then freed up and i got going again. At other gradients it was silent.

Anyone else experience this. Im guessing I'll have to get on to Bkool in the morning. And whilst its not a major problem at the minute the noise is unreal and driving the rest of the house mad.

I would assume depending on what format you can output from Google maps with. I see GPX and HRM files mentioned on Bkool as compatible. What options are on Google maps for export?

Unsure what format Google maps export files into as I've never done it. I just know it's a function available on the tacx genius.

Hi Al. That is pretty crazy doing two goat rides in succession. Two goat rides in successive evenings is about my limit of craziness.

As for the noise your unit is emitting, it doesn't sound like the cover rubbing which was a common problem with the earlier units. Your best bet might be to contact bkool and see what they want to do about it. If you bought it direct from bkool they will send a courier to collect it and probably deliver you a new one near enough at the same time.

I'll stick with my Dick Dastardly Wacky Races tactics.:cycle:

What I notice when I ride against your ghosts is you shoot off really fast early. On the ride tonight it took about 4 km before I saw your ghost again. I try to keep it nice and steady for the whole race. On the chain gang last week I tried to shoot off fast and was pretty shot by about half way.

I need to do a short Goat ride then I'll ask @RickB to give me the same Goat time as my Moose time ^_^
Yea. I've found that if I try to not jump out of the gate and instead keep the watts down, but steadier that I still fade hard and don't actually do any better in the end. So I just hit it hard for as long as I can. I do know that I'm doing much more standing on the trainer than in real life, which isn't helping. I'm also using my road bike on the trainer -- so I don't have the tiny gears of my mtn bike. I'm also carrying a ton more weight, the combination is deadly. I'm pretty sure my speed would be more consistent on my mtn bike but that's got a solid axle and thus not compatible with the kickr.

Ideally I'd be spinning around 80rpm for most of that ride, right now I'm spinning ~60 and even worse. I've never been able to really spin up the road bike the way I want on that climb (trainer or real world). One of the effects is more fatigue in the legs rather than the lungs/heart, so I don't get that snap back in my legs for the second half of the ride.

My goal is to keep riding the trainer through the winter & lose a little more weight, then hit the ride in the real world to evaluate progress.

Anything combined with Little Cottonwood is a bit crazy.

Emigation & City Creek would be a reasonable combination. Together they're probably around 3k ft of vertical.

Every week I tell myself - don't go off too fast & every week I do the same, shoot off with max power and destroy myself in the first mile. Looking forward to this week's chain gang and already telling myself 'don't go off too fast' lol

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, that's exactly what happened to my bkool and also another friend of mine (Bridgy) that only used his trainer 4 times... There's certainly a common fault
