I'd like to join the group but when I go to the groups page on bkool.com the only ootions are groups to which I belong, suggested groups, and awaiting approval.

How do I find the Bkool Cyclechat group to request i join?

From any page on Bkool, click on the search button and type "cyclechat" into the box. You can filter the results to see just the groups.

Re heart Rate best to read elsewhere but I would suggest following to help;

Be properly hydrated before you start a session and have cold water on standby to drink
Warm up. I work through gears one by one for good 20 min or more. Once I have warmed up I do some high power but short intervals. Finally a turn a high gear very slowly to finish but that's just me.
Don't over dress. I personally wear no more than bib tights and shoes
Try and train in an environment with air flow. Open windows. Don't just depend on a fan
Get a big F off fan that can blow serious cold air on your overheating body. Mine is angled upwards from floor in front of front wheel so blowing on upper body and face.
Get another fan!
Know your HR zones. Look up how to assess these. Or if you are very serious about your turbo work get a proper HR stress rest done.

I'm going to put something like this in the FAQ, as there must be plenty of newbies just climb on and risk over heating, etc.

Cheers,

Geoff

There are direct links on the (sticky) FAQ...

Chaingang - Weekly Thurs evening rides, starts @7pm, repeat on Sat @5pm
Aimed at getting a large group riding (in 3D) at the same time (rides can be done at other times if you can't make the group rides). Mixed terrain to suit a wide range of abilities and there is generally someone of similar ability to race/ride with. Drafting is encouraged!

Mountain Goats - aimed at people who like long steep alpine climbs

Mountain Moose - Longish less steep climbs for the larger rider

Saturday Chaingang rerun - 5pm

3rd stage - Chinorlet - Campules

10 mins warm up as usual with race starting at 5:10pm

To be sure you're in the right race make sure you see my name 'Rickb' in the list of starters.

I may try to add some ghosts but this has been causing us problems at the starts - if you join within the first couple of minutes of the allotted warm up time and the race seems to be already well under way, just quit out of it again and search again as I'll maybe have to restart the session without ghosts.
