Indeed! I think we have two resident females - Jellybaby and of course dearest GailB.

Kudos to Gail for doing the 50km today in 1:50! :hugs: No kudos for me as I just bailed there now. Felt a twinge in the knee a couple of times and as I wasn't really battling for postions I caved in and quit.

I managed the final Chain gang today following bailing out earlier this week with chest pains (I think I may have pulled a chest muscle due to tensing shoulders!!!). Anyway, I was really pleased with my time - 1hr, 33mins and 17secs ^_^ Have my shower then check where I am in the league, only to see that @Soarerv8 did it 8 seconds faster than me :banghead: LOL Maybe I should check other people's times before I do the rides in future :shy: saying that though, I don't think I had an extra 8 seconds in me, I was shot at the end :heat:

Damn, that was a tough last Chain Gang race. I had a problem with my right leg with about 10 km to go, and I had to mount every ounce of willpower to finish the stage. Thought Bob was going to catch me at one point, but I seemed to have a little more speed uphills.

The right leg thing is a recurring thing, can't remember the name, but it's when the muscles puts pressure on veins and cuts off blood supply. I virtually had to ride one-legged in that last part.

Chaingang rerun at 5pm

Final chance to impr9ve your position in the Chaingang 2015!

Look out for Tramo 50km Bujalance-Cordoba on the Live tab just after 5pm.

Any difficulties finding it just search using the advanced tab for 'Rickb'.

That's it! I'm getting a new turbo in 2016 because mine is obviously b@ggered.
No way do I improve my PB by 4 mins one day (which I believe was possible as it was against competition) but you don't beat it again by 4 mins again a couple of days later.
There is no denying I went flat out today once the levels started and just aimed to keep my average speed above 50kph but even I couldn't believe my time when I finished.
I was aiming to keep inside 1:01 to take the male vet 2 course record from fmpando, whilst he is off injured and can't steal it back too quickly, but to smash it by a further 3 mins is absurd.

By the way do not take too much notice of my HR because I can't beleive that was my reading either as my lungs and legs were going ten to the dozen, on top of needing another gear bigger than my 50/12.
I welcomed every single little downhill as a rest apart from those little ones they stuff in half way up a five percent when you have decided to go into a big gear and stand up to give your perenium a rest and then you find your rubber legs are trying to stomp on nothing and you colapse onto the saddle again smashing the bits you were trying to give a break in the process.

Enough said about my ride, thanks all of you who organise this mental madness as it is good for the soul and body and is an outlet for endless sources of frustration .

Shower time now and then time for a good bit of chow.

Happy New Year

Madness. In what state of mind was I in to do this ride after a 2 week break . I did better than I expected, was thinking 2 hours. However I am absolutely billhooks'd xx(.

Too much:mrpig: and , not enough :bicycle:. A lesson that I never learn .

Any way back on the bike .

Thanks to all who have organised and taken part in this. I will be back for more :boxing: and :ninja: this year.

Randyberlin my apologies for not letting you draft me, you let me draft you but as i tried to do the same for you we kept yo yoing i would speed up to stay in front but would shoot off then as i tried to slow down so you could gain on me you would come racing up behind me, so gave up and shot off sorry.

Smashed my time by over 5 minutes, it was a tactical change of bike i think did it.

Great race well done all

You managed to hold me off with only one leg?!?:notworthy:

I had no intention of doing the chain gang today but once I logged in to watch I felt I had to. I lost over a minute the other night when my laptop ran low on juice and I had to get off the bike and faff about plugging the cable in. Seems I hadn't connected it properly:blush: so I actually thought I had an opportunity to ride a faster time tonight. But, not being prepared I didn't have an energy bar or water and really felt my energy and power just ebb away in the last 8km. Still, it was another great race and although I was slower today it didn't really matter.
On to the next chain gang series! :bicycle::cheers:

It's like Rick B all over again. At one time evenly matched and then later up at the front. We should get a few more of us middle riders to form a peloton. Maybe week after next. Next week I'm going on a week.long mountain bike vacation. I'm not really a mountain biker so it should be interesting.

I though you had Guy's tandem when you were done toying with me and took off.

Sorry Rob forgot to say thanks for the encouragement . I was ok until about 20 miles then the legs went into melt down. It was like having rubber bands for muscle. One minute all taut and pulling together and the next all floppy and going nowhere :surrender:. The last half hour was :banghead:.

Ok now time for some :hungry: and a nice cool down :heat:

Whorty, believe me as one who often checks the stats of others before setting of, once the pain sets in trying to remeber what you are trying to acheive becomes a distraction unless you write it in big numbers on a piece of paper and pin it somewhere you can read it easily when you are riding.

PS Your not alone regarding jelly legs, it happens to us all regardless of capability.

That Was a hard end to the league - I completely ran out of energy with about 5 miles to go (but never really felt good!) -it just seemed to go on for ever! Well done all, and thanks to those of you who put the time in to organise things.

I think I will give myself a day off tomorrow :heat:

Sounds like a plan i think drafting on the flat wouldn't be a problem as when i do velodrome sessions i can be drafted or im doing the drafting.

Good luck with the mountain biking.

The right leg thing is a recurring thing, can't remember the name, but it's when the muscles puts pressure on veins and cuts off blood supply. I virtually had to ride one-legged in that last part.

Not as bad as what you suffer but other than the inflamed prostrate causing discomfort in the pernium area I had a gangleon removed from my left wrist years ago and now it gives me jip if I put too much weight on it so I tend to tranfer my weight to my right hand which them goes numb because it has too much presure on it.
So then I try and keep the weight off of both hands which then transfers more weight to the saddle and therefore the perenium thus agravating the prostrate.
Then I need to find somewhere where I can get into a big gear and stand up to give the perenium a rest which can result in the jelly leg syndrome so you end up sitting down too hard and futher annoy the perenium and so the vicious cycle (no punn intended) continues!
