My warm up routine involves trying to get my daughter upstairs as quick as poss so I don't miss the start time... It always seems to be a bit of a flap.

Do you guys do any stretching or just spin up?
To be honest I'm not great at warming up at all. Mild spinning for most of the warm-up time with a few bursts of high cadence to get the blood flowing. Need to work on that end of things a bit more I doubt!

I do stretch at various times during the day as my muscles would be quite tight.

I think there's a few things I need to work on.

On my screen it said I had a lead of about 45-55 seconds, yet on the video you shot it was only about 15 seconds for most of it. Was I hallucinating? Had I known it was that little I would have been panicking a lot more.

Thats why i was encouraging you on mate as i could see that Rick and Bill were not too far behind mate, 13 seconds about the average from what i remember.

So if your trying to keep your heart rate down, you need to sit down, I guess. Suits me, I'm crap at standing up.

My problem being "lighter framed" means that whenever i stand up, the back wheel is slipping all the time and i end up wasting valuable effort, i think i need to come up with some sort of Bungee device to keep the back wheel down on the roller when my "weight" is forward in a climb position.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

Actual time was as per Adam ' 45-55 seconds and verified by the results. No idea why those watching had different readout. Just another bkool fault I guess.

I used to, yes! And I did use a bungee cord for a while to keep the wheel down, which worked. But try a few different tyres, I have one now that works fine, with no it very minimal slippage, and I am usually standing up.
Oh yes, and I bought an adjustable front wheel block. On the steeper runs I raise the front a touch too, which makes a big difference.

I never stand up to pedal on the Bkool - not because ofthe wheel slipping, it just doesn't feel right. I will often stand and pedal to accelerate or climb on the road but it feels all wrong on the trainer - I think partly because I can't move the bike side to side like I would normally?

In all seriousness, with regards warm up, especially heeding Geoff's warning, I do need to up my game in that area.
I am running the risk of blowing an O-ring the way I am hitting some of these hills.
I told myself I would be more sensible this time round, but looks like I have already binned that notion.

I find I need 20 mins warm up, I start fully dressed with no fan running and build up cadence and power for 10 mins then cruise back down for remaining 10 mins. By then I have a mild sweat. Strip off (Oo'er), fan on and wait last minute for start

Similar routine but I find I now need best part of 40 mins to warm up. First 15 mins is really slow before moving up through gears then back down. If I don't do this then given the speed of our race starts I find heart rate goes scary high very quickly. It's been a real benefit to me being able to see impact of different approaches to preparation and racing in bkool.

I could warm up into 10 mins, but it seems to sap me of power, I need longer to build up and then I feel alot more prepared after 20mins. May even try 30mins. I was joking with a 60+ rider at our time trial last year, he was on the turbo in the carpark for a good 20 mins. He said it takes him longer to warm up than do the time trail

I actually believe he was right, I need more time

From the video, 30 seconds from the finish, it said you had 20 seconds on @RickB and 35 seconds on @BILL S

2 seconds from the finish, it said you had 29 seconds on @RickB and 47 seconds on @BILL S

But when @RickB and @BILL S finished, the classification said you had 1 minute 33 seconds on @RickB and 2 minutes 4 seconds on @BILL S

Somehow I doubt @RickB lost a minute in 1.5 minutes, and if he had slowed up that much @BILL S would have passed him!

Therefore I would reluctantly suggest that perhaps Bkool's estimates of the gaps between you are a bit of a stab in the dark.

Supporting video evidence for this theory is that when @BILL S was estimated to be 1 minutes 36 seconds from the finish, it showed @bobinski and @Breedon 1 minute 53 seconds behind, but the classification showed them just over 7 minutes behind.

And finally, even though they were close to the line and had a final sprint (which should speed things up) the video shows an estimate for @bobinski of 19 seconds to go, and the video shows it took 45 seconds.

I understand that it is very difficult to estimate how long the remaining terrain will take, but when it gets down to less than a minute, it is hard to see how it can be more than 50% wrong.

Throughout the ride the gaps between the first three seemed pretty much dead on from my viewpoint. Funny that the spectators get fed different info than the riders.

Same for me Rick. Looks like spectators got different info, whereas on a chain gang or handicap ride the info is the same.
