Last nights Handicap kicked the stuffing out of me. I was straight to bed after that.
I'll take 1/2lb of that spinach please Soarer, and I've ordered a juicer and an ultra sport Continental tyre.
If that doesn't work, the tyre gets juiced. I have a sneaking suspicion I might be out of 'gains' now, and predict my progress will be a little more torturous and hard earned....a day I have feared since I returned to my turbo.
Might find myself wheeling out the 'picking a kitchen' or 'rescuing a bird stuck in a tree' excuses before too long, if Camlo doesn't pop in here and grass me up.

Your return to your turbo placings has been earned the hard way. I've been in the same place for a year. Normally stuck as Billy no mates in the midfield while Bill, Aaac, Rick, Bob and others leave me standing and Randy and co getting a bit closer. I've tried staying with Bridgy but he is just a touch faster, maybe with you in the midfield mix we can work together to make the gains, although I expect you still have gains to make, I'm not sure I have unless I find some other vice to give up, or start using gels.

I think it's the ultra sports I use on my outdoor bike. They came free with the wheels. Funnily enough I've never had a puncture on it! Must try it on the trainer to see how it goes.
I use a yellow one on the turbo, the coloured particles on the floor are less noticeable than black..

I like the sound of that, my new drafting partner!

The other day I idly wondered why even though I have put in several hundred miles on the turbo I don't seem to be getting any quicker compared to other people around me. It then dawned on me that they have done the same thing so all of us in our friendly virtual world are getting fitter and quicker together. When it is back on the road time Adam you Will blow those winter hibernaters into the weeds.

After my pitiful bleating a fortnight ago about being fat and slow I have given myself a fairly stern talking to as I most definitely should know better than to let myself get into a poor condition. I have used my cursed blender to make sure I am eating more healthily and there is 2.5kg less of me (sorry ladies but still plenty to go around) than there was 2 weeks ago. Not sure if that made any difference or if it was psychological but I was definitely able to push myself harder yesterday.

Excllent!

With my own plans of getting a juicer specifically to blend up anobolic steroids...
This time next year I'll be getting close up views of your techno coloured canary outfit! :boxing:

You're quite right. And more than half the battle with the turbo is that I really enjoy it. I love the competitive aspect, and I lived the pre and post race banter (and BS!).
I once again find myself day dreaming about the coming evenings turbo session whilst at work, which is how it used to be for me.
The only downside is the extra times I am leathering my thumb with my hammer, and the repeated mis measuring. But it's not a problem until the plasterboard waste and cock up pile forces me to go and cut in a different room.

Ditto to all of that (but without the plasterboard waste I don't get to play with exciting stuff like that) what is definitely the case is that had I just purchased a turbo it would have been used 3 times and now be glowering at me from the back of the garage behind unused windsurfs and golf sticks much unloved. I don't even think just the Bkool alone would have kept my interest it is definitely the banter and twaddle here that makes me want to keep going.

Yea, it's almost comical to watch... I figure they'll get it sorted out over time. Ultimately I spot everyone else not on a kickr 20-30 seconds. Just makes me work harder...

Geoff/Jlaw looking at the video, it is a perfect example of what happens and the problem the Kickrs have at the moment, I didn't bother blasting off the line, no point! I held 300watts until the speed numbers turned white(pity its not shown) at about 18mph, that was around 20 seconds after the start, then you can see I pressed on for a period at over 400watts. I think the numbers turned blue again for a brief period. I didn't try so much every time the blue speed popped up. Its rather annoying cos I am paying attention to the gradients and my effort is somewhat wasted when I am trying and bkool takeover my speed. I will report to bkool as mentioned. Can you roll back to a previous software version, I much preferred it when I had to pedal downhill?

Agree completely - I know there's been a lot of headaches with the software and the hardware but overall it's unbeatable as a package to keep you motivated. Wouldnt last 10 minutes on a normal turbo and probably would have gave up on cycling over the winter completely.

Always logging on to see the latest banter too! Its turning in the Add & Soar show in here some days!

Strange. I met a nameless rider midway. Must have been an englishman, he was driving in the left side of the road. As I passed him he slided in behind me, but seemed to continue sliding into the field:scratch:

I had the same at one point, he was zig zagging across the road in front of me until i passed him.......very offputting :giggle:

Agree with all the above - and would just add it's not just the added interest/motivation etc I get from the racing vs a normal trainer, but also the really high intensity that the racing encourages! I know I wouldn't put in anywhere near those kind of efforts if I wasn't in the live races - even if I thought I was giving it my all

Totally agree too.

The motivation I get from the league sessions is unreal. I don't think it matters where you stand in the rankings so to speak. You're always looking to push up and improve.

Next weeks Handicap Chase is a new one, http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/176281?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1

I've got a handful of times from last Spring, but it would help set initial handicaps if as many of you as possible give it a go before the start of next week, especially you @BILL S :okay:

It's quite different to the previous chases, as it is a pretty steady climb, but averaging around 2% and never more than 6%. For all but the very fastest, it is ideal for improving fitness levels as it takes a little over 30 minutes and gives an ideal gradient for producing power.

Thanks,

Geoff

Edit: It's impressive how much you guys have improved since last April...

Edit2: Bill, you did have the record for this course, but were pipped by 15 seconds yesterday! I expect you'll be aiming to put that right over the next few weeks... :training:
