Hey Kipster fancy a crack at Geoff's new Handicap course? We could use it as a bit of a mid-field bonding session, maybe even make it private.
Could do Friday evening, but feel free to blow me off if you want to rebuff my advances.
With the Thursday race and a 207km audax scheduled for Saturday I might have to politely decline. Although I could step down to the 100km Audax (with cycling to the start and back it'll be closer to 130km) and then I might be able to fit Friday in. I did notice we have already have times on that course, and you are 1 minute and 35 seconds ahead of me :-)

We don't have a caravan or motorhome, but there's lots of nice campsites here in Somerset - and lots of lovely cycling... :hello:

Used to have a tent, but junior school aged children turned into teenagers, who need wifi otherwise their lives are meaningless, so we now have 'proper' holidays (Hotel and Cottages) rather than wet and windy weeks on the Gower Peninsular. My parents took me on caravanning holidays when I was a kid, so try and avoid them now, to be fair they dragged me away every other weekend to some field in the middle of no where, to eat food that was either raw for incinerated. I'm sure I saw people enjoying nice sites the other side of the hedge of the field we were in!

Bit of a change of subject...

With regards HRM, last night I tried to pair manually, but BKOOL couldn't seem to find my (garmin) hrm. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Do any other bkoolers have a caravan or motorhome? Is this a condition for joining the chaingang? We have a 16 year old motorhome which we got last year and we love it, only downside is we can't attach the tandem to it :bicycle:

Don't have a motorhome or caravan but the wife likes the idea of a motor home.

not sure what could be up there Tommy - I occasionally use my Garmin HRM on Bkool. Put it on for the first time in ages last week and had to manually search for it, but it came up no problems. For some reason it doesnt pick it up if you put it on after entering the Bsim software so I always put it on before Logging on. This may or may not be true for all but it seems to be the way mine is afftected!

Mine is exactly the same. I always make sure I've moistened it with a quick smear of beer before I actually log in, it always finds it then.
I've had issues if you stay logged into the Sim, but remained idle for some time. It's as though it loses interest in me, and it refuses to a acknowledge the existence of any devices at all. But it always sorts itself out if I log out and back in.

I did have it on before before I logged on. I wasn't sure about the range so tried to put it right up close to the ant+ thingy but still nada!

Seems like I'm on the right track from what you've said so I'll try again today.

I must admit I have slight mental trauma recounting similar caravaning holidays with my Gran. She had a penchant for buying any out of date food she could lay her hands on, and some of it was positively toxic. The upside was, she was more than happy for my two sisters and I to wash it down with copious quantities of Creme de Cassis. Pissed at age 11 is interesting to say the least.
So when Mary told me she had bought a caravan, I tried to give her 'the look' but unfortunately it presented itself as a cross between constipation and Zoolander, and after she'd sent me to the toilet, I had to go and pick it up.
I tow trailers most days in my line of work, but towing this thing was like pulling a giddy cow with a motorbike. I only had to drive it 6 miles home, but needed to lie in a darkened room with a large Creme de Cassis for an hour when I got back.

I had the same issue Tommy, but now i put it on before i log in and ensure it's had a bit of "lube" before putting it on then the BKool picks it up every time now.

Next weeks Handicap Chase is a new one, http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/176281?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1

I've got a handful of times from last Spring, but it would help set initial handicaps if as many of you as possible give it a go before the start of next week, especially you @BILL S :okay:

It's quite different to the previous chases, as it is a pretty steady climb, but averaging around 2% and never more than 6%. For all but the very fastest, it is ideal for improving fitness levels as it takes a little over 30 minutes and gives an ideal gradient for producing power.

Thanks,

Geoff

Edit: It's impressive how much you guys have improved since last April...

Edit2: Bill, you did have the record for this course, but were pipped by 15 seconds yesterday! I expect you'll be aiming to put that right over the next few weeks... :training:

I'll have a go at this one today Geoff. Not sure I can better my quickest time though as my average power was up there with the best of my goat rides. It'll be different to have a steady climb and should be good for the guys with classics and Vertex's. Looking forward to riding this next tuesday:smile:

You need to dampen the area where the contacts touch your chest area. Fit the Garmin before you start Bsim or it won't find it. Also if you don't moisten your chest enough the Garmin HR won't transmit
