Whatever works best / happy to try different options Rick.

I'd like to start adding you guys on strava. Need to decipher some of your nicknames 1st. So if some wierdo called 'Tom burton' tries to add you, I promise I'm not a total stalker...
Always fancied the idea of a stalker so someone else is aware of the thrill ride that is the life of going to work, getting home and ferrying kids somewhere and the going to bed. I reckon my stalker would just end up feeling sorry for me.

For me personally don't worry about trying to level up the discrepancy between turbo trainers, I think it will be too difficult to apply. Mybe Geoff could analyse how much time Kickrs lose in the first kilometre and adjust handicap accordingly, simpliest solution. The other chaingang race, I am happy to try and chase down the others. It does make me work that bit harder  It is a bit of fun at the end of the day and not to be taken too seriously. Improvement in ones own fitness is the main goal, not the chain-gang results-excluding the first 3 fighting for podium places

Now of course the big question is that after 2 evenings of giving my legs and lungs a proper pounding do I feel like taking on a mountain moose stage tonight. Obviously this is a rhetorical question to which the answer is emphatically no but I might possibly do it anyway. If any of the other salad Dodgers are around at about 8 would be good to have someone to chase.

It is good on the big screen, just make sure you have the screen low enough though. I used my tv on the wall and after an hour my neck was killing me. Your natural sighting angle on a bike is normally pretty low.
I was talking with the physio at work about a new pain that I was getting in my shoulder (poor woman made the fatal error of saying "how are you" when she saw me when all seasoned healthcare professionals know that the correct greeting to stop this is "you look well!") anyway explained my recent extensive hours on a turbo and she suggested that the locked position of the front wheel was probably over working very specific bits of muscle in my shoulder. She suggested every time I go on it I twist my bars about 5 degrees off centre and the do the same thing the other way the next time. Since then no bad shoulder so I suspect long hours on a turbo can lead to odd aches other than just the legs.

Haha!

This is a great tip!

Fortunately living in London we assume most greetings we receive are completely insincere and rarely require a response.

Love it. Healthcare professionals should surely be taught this at university?
Not sure the off centre handlebars would sit well with my mild cycling OCD. I am forever wiggling them straight if I think they are slightly askew. That said, shoulders are least of my worries. Was going to join you for the Moose run, but I have succumbed to hitting the bottle. Not a good mix me thinks.

That will have drained out of you by the time I force myself out there think it will be about 8. If you did a Moose ride you would become king of the moose and we would dance naked around a statue in your honour by moonlight.

As you can tell Mrs Soarerv8 lost the battle of who takes the kids to their hockey tournament today so I am left on my lonesome with a list of jobs that I haven't done yet.

I'm up for that - what about Parleys Canyon.

Going from easier to hard on points difficultys next on both our lists, so might be the best option after recent efforts.

I'm open to that idea Adam. I had already considered leaving the rides open a bit longer as even I'm even struggling to fit in the last stage here due to other commitments! What does everyone else think? Will it take away from the league in any way or just increase the competitive spirit? I remember in the bkool summer league replaying some stages just to gain some more seconds to overtake guys in the table! Was good motivation!

On the subject of the chaingang league I'd like it to be as level a playing field as possible regardless of what trainer you use.
Suggestion:
Some guys on kickrs have been struggling with the off the line explosion from us Bkool users, so maybe we could have a gentleman's agreement to have a more sedate start keeping to what we know would be our average watts or thereabouts. Maybe too hard to implement. I know we talked about it before - maybe it wouldn't make that much difference. How much do you think a kickr user loses from the start?

Similarly the on/off technique should be avoided during league sessions.

Just ideas to even things out and encourage more teamwork making it more like real racing. Best sessions ive had were the ones where ive teamed up and drafted with 1 or 2 others.

As i said, we want as level a playing field in the league as far as possible.:hugs:

What says the masses??? :addict:

Rick, Keeping the rides open much longer could lead to one or two unintended consequences. I'm not against it but for the chaingang it's a bit more complicated than the mountain goats. It would probably mean that the quickest times could be had by riding outside of the group races on Thursday and Saturday and instead challenging the ghost that you can draft with and with the power saved, beat it at the end.
Also it's harder to "police" a ride from outside of the main races, for example if we decide to do a rolling start in future to help out the kickrs and make the drafting situation better, then we could all see if someone was not conforming, but if ridden as a solo ride this would not be seen.
Having said that, as long as everyone sticks to any rules that are formulated, it could add to the fun and encourage the use of mind games which are always good IMO.
