Randy. Is this a series anyone can join or follow, and if so, where can it be found?
Yes, please join in. It is something I made up just goofing around. Under sessions I noticed you can select rides added by friends so I picked a bunch of the cycle-chat group.
I am trying to find rides I can beat and are short. Rayvon has a 155 mile ride and one called home run. I'll challenge his home run. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Hi guys, been away cycling in the 'real' world and came across this.....

http://beta.altonito.com/story/staunsholm/bkool-and-trainerroad

Knowing there are several software savvy members I wondered any opinion before I destroy my Laptop could be pretty special...

@gbrown :dance:

Looks very clever, but I'm afraid I have a KICKR so it works with trainer road directly.

I'm currently restricted to about 100 Watts anyway, so just using erg mode on the KICKR!

You may think this isn't fair because these are real world rides with wind, but I have a fan turned on.

I just started a new series. It's called "race them on their own turf". I just beat Kipster on his Arelsford ride and Darryn on his Destlebugen ride. The rest of you should be shaking in your cleats. But Bill it won't be your Strathpuffer ride. And Lars when I found your lbhifi6prct I noticed you are now wearing green. Congratulations.
Thanks
I just uploaded my ride around my local lake (LBHIFI-ARRESOE), that I did with reference to The Bike Show Listeners' Hour Challenge https://www.strava.com/clubs/thebikeshow, and it's already in 3D.
If you find yourself trailing, then don't give up. I eased up a bit on the last 7 km, so that I could make a full hour ride.

Just a thought Randy, but your best chance might be my Puffer ride as it was done on a mountain bike over lots of mud and rocks and you will easily beat my 7mph average.

I think you should go for it ;)

Hi

I have a Tacx Genius and a BKool Pro. I would not say that one is more reliable than the other. The biggest difference is that you cannot stand up on steep ascends on the BKool, and that the current Watts from the BKool are not very steady, making it hard to do Watt intervals. The avg. Watts seems ok, although a bit to high in my view.
The Genius is very realistic in how it feels and the time it takes to climb. I have compared real-life vs Tacx Alpe D'Huez and Fataga (Gran Canaria) climbs and it was very close.
However, I seem to find myself pedaling more on the BKool, because of the online community.

Hi everyone,
Poor health has meant I have not been around other than to watch Randy taking over other peoples turf. Tried to kick my chest and throat infection of several weeks, without antibiotics. Dr told me at my age I really should know better. And shes right!
Anyways, antibiotics doing their business and so i am looking to get back on the turbo which is probably a bit safer for my health than going out on the road. I have a 24h london to Paris ride to get fit for on 25th july followed a week later by 8 days in the French Alps. If anyone is up for an online ride let me know. Racing will be a trifle challenging for a few more days at least. But I am sure bkool'g will get me close to the necessary fitness levels before the end of july. Just on that, i have a local climb i used to do hill repeats on with my planet x slpro and rs 80-24 wheels. So a nice lightweight combo. Just over a week ago I beat my personal best -achieved 2 years ago and when i was 11lbs lighter-on a ride that took on average 1min 30 , by 10 seconds. I put that down to bkool and trying to keep up with you guys.

Hey Geoff,
Good to see you back on the bike but taking it easy.

Robo1792,

The biggest difference in the Bkool and the Netalthlon system I used before is the infinite courses. On my old system there were about 12 courses and limited on line races. With Bkool there is always someone else on line to ride against or 250000 other rides to do.

Bobinski,

Yes you should start off easy, with slow, short rides. And maybe take your phone with the Bkool app. I can't find any other rides uploaded by you.

I have a Realtour - dont bother, as it only simulates up to about 6% gradients. I bought a Bkool a few months later - and had to return it as it had bad fan rub and the cadence was all over the place. Just been replaced by a new unit though which I havent fully tested yet, but once you get a decent unit I rarely hear tales of them going wrong. As a training tool its hard to beat as the competitive motivation is immense!!
