I'm trying to deal with BKool directly with my vibrating unit, and no firmware update. Craig in the US is really helpful, but the Spanish guys are less so. They still don't seem too keen to replace the unit even though it is clearly faulty and part of the same batch that ended up at Wiggle. I'll keep peeps updated on this and how things go.
Wiggle have offered me a refund so I can buy direct from bkool. I'm on holiday for the next week though so need to wait until I get back. If the one bkool send is faulty then they'll need to replace it again. I think it's worth the hassle to get a good one.

I'd say bkool have all the niggles sorted on their latest batch. Mine seems spot on in every way.

28:40 And I gave it my everything once again. I was even talking to myself to try and spur myself on. The wife thinks I'm going nuts, lol.
I seriously don't know how some of the guys get the times they do, Very impressive.
I challenged RickB and I almost lost 1 minute for every mile completed....... WTF......
I had 104% effort and averaged around 225 power which is very high for me.

Honestly guys, it's incredible the times you get. Are you sure your not pro cyclists just pretending to be normal guys? lol
Seriously impressive, that or I'm in a far worse condition than I thought I was, fitness wise.
Lol. Making me feel good Hazie.

Honestly the watts you put out there is around where I was at Christmas. You'll come on a lot quicker than you think.

It looks like Poul Thomsen couldn't get anybody to pull a car out in front of you. It's a well know , often successful racing tactic.
Yes, he was close. Actually I was held back by a car in one of the turns. I'm sure it was Poul who ordered it via his team radio . Fortunately they forgot to stop, so I was able draft for a little while. Evens things up I guess

You're 7 minutes faster than me and you wonder about the other riders ... LOL ... I'll be happy when I can get your time ha ha

Probably doesn't help that my bike is an old beater and the gears are buggered! Can't convince the wife I need a new bike though LOL

Ok well i jumped on my new beast and choose a route i knew in Lanzarote and away i went !! Mt Timanfaya ..
I did three miles in the warm up for ten minutes which as i read makes the times seem longer than on the screen but anyway completed it in 33.53s distance 17.3km elevation 136 m and Effort 119% next time i think i should ride in the bath as the front room resembled a swimming pool at the end but i guess it must do you good lol .. anyway somehow managed to finish first out of the three who started so work done for the day now for a cold pint ;-) I'm using my faithful Viking on the trainer keeping my Moda for the road but even with the weaker gearing and no clips a very enjoyable first outing , all the best Dave ..

You need to wear her down some more, I find changing the default opening page of Internet browsers to a picture of the bike I want next helps, plus just keep going on about how the current bike is holding me back. A city break also helps smooths the path. Mind you I've got to wait a bit for my next bike, just bought a new one for my son.

Regarding speed, I've been off the Bkool for a while and expect it will take me a few rides to get somewhere near where I was with it. The winter cycle chat leagues live rides are great as no matter how quick or slow you are, there is normally either someone just in front or just behind, this gives you the motivation to try and pull out or close down a gap.

Sorry lol I didn't mean to be cruel/rude.
I need to find someone only just better than me to give me a ghost I can see during the ride. The other guys just disappear in seconds.

Is this proof of the cadence problem that others had? I was going at a very sedate steady pace as I was doing Alp d'Huez. You can see my speed was pretty regular at 8.8 KPH. Yet the cadence was all over the shop from 40 odd to 136. Not sure I could do 136 even if I tried LOL

Excuse the messy room !!

If you're not using a dedicated cadence sensor, but allowing the trainer to guess the cadence, then I understand that it is likely to be much less accurate when your speed is lower, such as on a long steep climb like d'Huez.

All it has to go on are the peaks and troughs of torque you are producing, to guess when each pedal revolution starts and ends.

Best bet is to get a Garmin magnetless cadence sensor for about £35 and fix it to your crank arm.

Edit: Pretty decent Watts to maintain up d'Huez! How much do you weigh? Most of us are a lot heavier than a typical climber, and it's asking a lot to lift 80 odd kg up such a steep climb. Nearer 70kg makes it a lot easier. Keep at it and not only will the power improve, but the power to weigh doubly so! :-)

P.S. Great knees! :-)
