Only my 1sy session but would appear that BKOOL have sorted out my trainer... the numbers now make sense. I do agree with a few on here that the new trainers do feel a lot more realistic and probably closer to actual road riding than it's ever been. (in English harder)

Did Col du Glandon last night,(1:29:08) but if i click on my attempt it comes up with a pink cross beside it and says attempt invalid! Was really strugglling towards the end but as it was a league ride i wanted to finish it!

Any idea what i did wrong? Not too bothered for this league as just getting used to the trainer and simulator and i cant fit all the rides in anyway, but would be good to know for future attempts if i've done something wrong.

Cheers

It's nothing you've done wrong Martin. It's just the league setup problems with bkool. That one just tends to happen if you change your weight as it fluctuates as the bkool default is that the league expects it to stay the same. Admin will always approve it though so no worries.

Certainly an idea - what do you think @BILL S ?

Excellent suggestion Randy. Yes I'm up for that. I really didn't want to do that giro6 again. I'll just use it to experiment with ghosts but no reason for us to ride it.
I've never tried any of these games so it should be fun. Would it be best if someone else who knows what they're doing starts it off?

Agree about gearing and the Velodrome.

Lowest gear I use is a 39x27 on the steeper stuff, which just about gets me up the 12% climbs at 75rpm. Cadence lower than for a prolonged period and I really notice it in both depleting my muscles glycogen stores and fatiguing the fast twitch fibres. The result is not being able to ride hard for any given time after that. I misjudged a climb near me once. Kicks up to 20% 3 times for 100 yards (maxing at 25%), and 8-9% the rest. I blew up spectacularly with one more kick still to come. Ended up doing 35rpm for the last minute or so. My ride was over after that, and it was a slog to ride anywhere near FTP after that for the next 30 minutes as I trundled home!

Conversely, having a 54x11 really helps on the Velodrome on the sim! Just a shame it's near impossible to sprint on the turbo, so end up sprinting like Ed Clancy, while seated with massively high leg speed!

My gearing is a compact 50/34 with a 12-27 on the back (I think). I certainly cant climb at 75rpm on the steep stuff.

Suppose the best compromise would be a triple chainset bike to try and give as wide as range as possible!

Triple - even in the virtual world that would be piss take material

Going out to try my trainer, bkool have dialled in and checked all the settings and re-loaded the simulator software - fingers crossed it gets sorted (back to 210Ilbs).
I didn't realise bkool could actually connect to your trainer. That's good to know. I contacted them regarding my trainer not being able to update and they replied that my trainer was on the most up to date software already. I was wondering how they knew. Hmmmmmm

I'll admit to riding a triple! LOL! 30-39-50. Though setting the gears up is a pain and it doesn't always drop into the granny gear when I need it and I end up having to stop pedalling and racing down to give it a push in by hand.

lol. Guess I'm harking back to my MTB days. I take it triples are frowned upon! :shy:
Nothing wrong with a triple, Rick :cycle: You are going to struggle in the velodrome with 50/12 though. I will be at work tomorrow so will miss out.
