Best bike installed on turbo-check.
Old rear wheel as replacement but new shiny cassette-check.
New tyre as per Bill's recommendation-check.
Puncture new inner tube while installing new tyre- check
120psi puffed and puffed into replacement inner tube- check.
Knee still a bit funny-check.
Will try a bit of easy going Zwift today and see how knee responds. Things are getting serious-but fun- here and don't want to miss out :bicycle:

Also, it's like it doesn't always catch the gradient shifts, e.g. I was in the mountain gear working on a 5% gradient, and it shifted to a long 2% section where I would normally grind away using the big chainring. But there was no change in resistance and I had to stay in the mountain gear.
Damn, it happened again in "Passo del Gavia". Going from 5% to 2% there were no noticeable change in resistance, and I had to stay in the mountain gear. Also noticed that watts dropped from ~340 to ~250 and Guy, whom I was right behind, just flew away.

Hi Folks,

Just thought I would introduce myself. In my mid forties and has not rode a bike from about the age of 17 until I was 43. I have been cycling on and off for the last couple of years and really enjoy it. Started of on a Merida Ride 90 (now my trainer bike) and then once the bug bit I bought a Trek Emonda SL6. I bought a basic tacx trainer last year for winter but didn't really use it. During the summer I then found Bkool and bought the pro in September.

I have just joined the mountain goats and NI Autumn league so might see some of you soon!

The only negative thing I will say about the trainer is when going downhill you can't free wheel like you would in the real world so you can catch your breath

Did a quick test of the route and I confirm there are no hills to worry anyone. The slight inclines are very short and less than 4% at worst. Perfectly doable for all cyclechat members :bicycle::okay:
No hills?!? So I can finish this ride without wanting to puke my guts up?

Welcome

Re: the freewheeling ... this does seem to kind of work on the BKOOL. When going down hill if you keep the pedals turning over (to tell the unit you are still riding) the ascent will use gravity to calculate your expected speed. You will see the speed will turn blue, this is the units expected speed for you. I use this to recover a bit when going down hill, although the boys down give us many down sections on the goat rides!!

Happened to me on the flat stage on Thursday.....going up hill, turned into a -2 and I was pushing like hell for about a minute going about 12 mph until it decided it was down hill for me.

Hi, another N.Ireland resident here with a newly bought Bkool trainer. Been doing a few sessions on my own but would be good to join a few bkool groups. Im completely new to it so how do I join or do I need to be invited? Thanks
Here's a couple of cyclechast groups for you.

Chaingang. Flatter courses in the leagues. You can ride them at any time but we try to get everyone together for races on Thursday at 7pm and repeat again on Saturday at 5pm
