Cheers Rick, have joined both groups. Thursdays are good for me as its the one night I haven't anything else planned so will give it a go. As for hills :stop:, not that keen but will give it a go.
Rich, can you check that you are in both groups now. I accepted both requests but your name isn't showing in the chaingang members list.

By the way, I see you and a handful of others are members of Spires. I was out with a handful of Spires guys last week on an 80 mile loop. :hello:. Not yet a member but heading that way.

Can I make use of the cyclechat bkool hivemind?
I have have had a strange issue with my right knee ever since chain jammed and with sufficient force to bend derailleur hanger a couple of weeks ago. I don't have pain as such, no twinges but a feeling something is not quite right. It's as if it's swollen, a little sensitive but as I say, no pain. I cannot generate as much power as I can the left. This is noticeable when walking up stairs. I am concious of having to push with my foot to get the same power and movement as the left. I get the odd click but not sure any more than before. Because there is no pain or actual discomfort I have been wary about taking myself to a GP. Rested yesterday and probably will today. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Bob, I am also having knee problems right now. Sounds like for both of us its probably applying too much force or torque at the pedals. In your case it could have been the jarring when your mechanism jammed up. For me I think it started when I began pushing hard on the 100 climbs league. Some of those are so short the temptation is to just give it all for a minute and I think that can be too much for the knees. In my case at least. I think its a case of being ok at 300 watts for half an hour but not okay at 450 watts for a minute. I think I'm going to have to take it easy for a while as today my knees were hurting at 250 watts. I do not notice any problems with them apart from when on the bike.

I thought it was a football thing lol .
Yes, sorry about confusing things there. You are petfectly correct. It refers to the football team. Green and white army
Yes Rick, I am in the groups now, my nickname is Richie1223.

Good bunch of people in Spires, very glad I joined 2 years ago and haven't looked back.
Good to hear. Met some nice blokes so far so will likely sign up over the winter.

Sorry to hear that Bill.
Your theory sounds right. Mine certainly coincided with me trying to use a higher gear and push through rather than spin. I reverted to spinning tonight, bar a few shockingly poor gear changes, on a Cheddar Gorge rerun and knee was much happier. Time improved too. 98% power. Still almost 2 mins behind your time though! Hopefully a little rest and spinning will help you too.
I jumped onto Zwift afterwards and struggled to hit 22mph sprinting at in excess of 500watt. While the latest bkool update seems to have improved accuracy in the bkool software it has had an adverse impact on the ant fec software.

I reckon a week or two off should do the trick, although I won't be missing the chaingang race. Just have to go easy. As you say, spinning is the answer and I will be more careful to keep the cadence higher in future. On the plus side I now have enough injuries to justify opting out of the 24 hour mtb race next weekend that I was dreading due to a dodgy elbow. Fortunately all Mountain goat rides now done.

Hope all mends quickly Bill. Know the feeling alright and definitely having to watch my warmup more!

Busted. I'm out in the middle of some humpback whales and my wife just caught me checking the cycle chat.

unfortunately as it's a league race I feel compelled to finish, I guess you're the same, however much pain is going on. At least now we've done it we don't have to try it again
Compelled to finish any road or virtual road ride I start. I blame Mike who introduced me to climbing on roads so many years ago... I miss the granny gears on the mountain bike, but not the fat tires. Yes we used to do all our climbs on mtn bikes

I'll probably do it again given my effort was so weak. Need to eat a bit I suspect, probably starting about 45 minutes into the ride to avoid my 1hr wall.
