Yeah, its relatively high compared to others. I'm 30. The 220-age calculation is very inaccurate.

I agree, at 46 my max under 220 - 46 is 174, I often see 185, and have maxed at 192. So many factors, so many I don't understand so I tend not to pay much attention to it.

Well that's new to me. I logged on to bsim and was welcomed by a messaged about updating my trainer firmware. I accepted the update and off it went. Unfortunately the update failed.

Bkool classic pre August 2014, with usb connector for updates.
Pre update firmware : 1.13
Update firmware : 2.04
Failure message
Trainer firmware update error (0xffffffff)
Trainer was not updated.

Now what do I do?

Did you manage to resolve this?

Having exactly the same problem!

A quick question regarding the FTP test. Is this test purely to test your level of fitness and keep a track of your fitness progress giving you a ranking, or does it somehow affect the riding experience when using the trainer?

That's two questions.

The answers are Yes, and No.

Yes. I used my garmin mini, not micro, usb lead (for my satnav and/or virb not sure which). It may work with other leads. The garmin one was the first to hand. The suggestion was from here.
Hi,

It was the official one I got with my garmin. It's the only one that lets me browse my garmin when connected, when use any other it just charges so there seems to be some subtle difference.

Other thing to try to run Bsim in compatibility mode so it thinks it an older os (right click, properties on icon)

Good luck

Ah, i've already been using the cable I got with my Garmin! But sounds like its worth trying other cables, thanks!

I tried my first League session earlier today in the Chaingang league, really enjoyed the stage 2, La Vuelta 2014 but then saw my time against some of you others and need to up my game if I intend to take part in any races in future. Hope to try another league session tomorrow evening but probably late as the wife is away and I have to put the ankle biter to bed first!

Sounds as though I am trying to set fire to my house:blush:. The last 2 sessions I have done have ended up with the smoke alarm going off. First time was Friday, I put it down to all the bonfires and fireworks going off near where I live:whistle:. Well this afternoon/evening the same thing but no bonfires or fireworks.:cursing:

Looks like I'll have to get the hoover out and clean the trainer of any/all rubber deposits from the tyres, not much visible. Also I'll give the bike a once over as I lost the ability to swap rings on the front

FTP is functional threshold power. It is the theoretical maximum power you can sustain for an hour. It is a good indication of your fitness and can be used to structure your training. Google it, if you want to improve. There is loads written on the subject.
