Ha!, if only. I am just glad Rick was not around so you couldnt play tag team to reel me in.:okay:
From the interview last Thursday .
"Now Mr. Hoy if you take this position you will be using my Bkool log in and you'll not be able to tell anyone it isn't me riding."
"Yes I understand Mr. Bobinski. It is a very generous offer."

You know us too well Bob^_^. That's exactly what we'd have done, or at least tried to do, now that we've got the drafting figured out .
Having said that, your tactics today were flawless and having nothing to do with drafting with me was without a doubt the right choice for you to take the win. :okay:

Sorry I didn't join the fun today but was having a bad day overall so bkooling was relegated. Lets just say I've some car repairs to get sorted after my wife had an incident in town today. Nothing serious but will need a new panel

How accurately does the bkool trainer replicate a hill?

I mean if I ride say alpe d'huez, how well does it match the effort required to ride it in real life?
I would say that it depends which firmware you have. On my former Bkool Pro I was stuck at firmware version 3.2, and with that unit I clearly got too many watts, especially on climbs. On Alpe d'Huez I was 10 minutes faster than in real life. I also have a Tacx Genius, and on this trainer my time is very close to real-life.
My new Bkool Pro with the latest firmware seems more realistic, and I would expect a time closer to real-life.

totally of subject and probably in the wrong place ( sorry ) but does anyone know if you can filter results age wise - just a thought from a meandering middle age man hoping he is up against 25 yr old uber atheletes , thanks for any replies

Well, just did a watt comparison with some Garmin Vectors, and the result was somewhat depressing.
Bkool showed about 30 watt more on climbs (was kind of expecting that), but showed the same 30 watt to much on flats (Whaaat the ...).
So maybe it is me who need fixing:B).
However, this was with an entirely new setup (New bike with another tire and new PC) and I did notice that it was a lot easier to hit 300 watt on flat sections, so still a little hope.
Interesting, just got another Bkool vs Garmin Vector report from another guy, and this is based on a whole mountain session. He reports the same 30 watt difference for the avg. values, but also mentions that the two seem to agree at around 2-3% incline.
This corresponds better to how it feels for me.

I wasn't able to make the Thursday or Saturday ride, so did it this morning. Really struggled, I don't think the goat, top 100 and zwift rides yesterday helped. I nearly got off half way, just nothing in the legs, battled to the end, not a great time, but it's done. Bring on stage 2...

My current best 30 minute average on bkool is 210w (I have not done an ftp test). This gives a bkool ftp of 199w.

My best non bkool 20 min average, recorded this monday with vector pedals, is 203w. The average on bkool for this 20 odd minute section of the session was 216w. That was recorded on my 2nd atempt of the chapel fell stage of the T100 league.

For me the flat to about 1.5% slope bkool is about 15-30 watts higher. 1.5% to about 6% is usually 0-15 watts higher. 6% is where, for me currently, the trainer resistance feels that it max's out because of my weight.

Thanks Bob. Just a car park prang so nothing to worry about apart from repair bills or insurance claims. Haven't decided which yet!

Geraint Thomas eh? I'll take that ^_^ was a big fan of his in the Tour De France this year.

Must go do a goat stage today :bicycle:
