Thinking of going up Marie Blanque on Tuesday. (jokes welcome as somebody else peviously mentioned).

Any Mooses's up for it. I can do any time after 4pm?

I did always wonder why people named their mooses "Marie Blanque"? It's all beginning to make sense now.

Good evening, I've recently got into virtual training for the usual reasons, not enough time and too many kids. I've had a go at a few rides and liked the whole Bkool set up.
I'd be interested in doing some of the chaingangs, is it a set route (can't find it on Bkool) or different each night?
Hi, and :welcome:

There is one chaingang route per week, and the organised group ride of the route is 7 pm (UK Time) on a Thursday and 5 pm (UK) on a Saturday. If you can't make these times you can obviously ride them yourself during the week the ride is open but you may not get the ghosts.

To ride in the league you need to request to join the league and one of the good fellows who are admins will approve you.

That's you into the goats and chaingang groups now Horta. :welcome:

Have fun!!! If you're quick you can get stage 1 of the chaingang done before it closes

:cursing: Rick just beat me by 0.1 Seconds on the Mountain Goat 1 stage. Was planning to have a go at AAAC's time but not sure I have the energy after last nights chaingang.
Speaking of which I got another message on my Wall saying LB has thumped me on the chaingang stage 1. Well done Lars, that's quite a time you got there. No one should ever count you out :notworthy:.
Thanks:smile: It was all due to a simple plan that turned out to work far better than expected: I knew you had more than a minute on Runar at the foot of the mountain, so if I could just draft your ghost to there, using as little energy as possible, then I would might stand a chance. I don't think I could go up that mountain as fast as Runar, but with a minute lead I could maybe just hold him back.
I think I really got the drafting right since I got to the foot of the mountain with "only" around 240 Watt avg. From there it was pedal to the metal and to be honest, I also got a little super power help . Without the super power, I think Runar would have been very close at the end of the stage.

Geoff, regarding simulation and real life, when it comes to mountain climbs you remain at low altitude air density on your trainer and hence the will not suffer from the oxygen deficit you will get in real life, that is probably a considerable difference.

totally of subject and probably in the wrong place ( sorry ) but does anyone know if you can filter results age wise - just a thought from a meandering middle age man hoping he is up against 25 yr old uber atheletes , thanks for any replies
When I click on share it sorts standings by my age group and country. And under results I can choose either veteran 2 or absolute and either USA or the world. But the results are just depressing. I don't want to out anyone, but in our leagues the fastest are not young.

Did Bealach Beag 1/4 of the Moose league. Enjoyed it since most hills weren't too steep for my trainer, therefore making it fairer. Found the downhill almost harder since I really had to keep a good rhythm to keep my speed up!

I did a final check of the Bkool iPad app yesterday and it confimed the app sadly still crashes frequently, making it unusable at present. My free subscription runs out today so that is probably it for me at the moment, I checked out the Virtual Training app yesterday and it seems to be stable so far, so I will check that out with their 14 day free subscription.

I did like the league side of the Bkool software with the option of ghosts in the 3D environment, itworks very well. I just wish they would make an effort with their apps, there are plenty of gaming apps that need the same kind of data transfers that are completely stable, so it can be done.

Hopefully I can come back in the future.

LOL - you and me both @Goldwolfie ... should give us 2 chances to catch some drafting though as @BILL S and the rest pass us :okay:

edit: Just saw the Wolves result ... a win for the boys in Old Gold and Black

yep - it was a bit drafty in sunny Rotherham and the first win for awhile. :hyper:

In fact the weekend was going well until Sunday evening, when I thought I better have another crack at CG Stage 1 before it was removed from the schedule.

Again, my connection crashed but at least I didn't have to struggle up most of the mountain this time, as it crashed just at the top of the climb in the middle.

I'm going to have to sort this out as the wife is complaining about all the 'heffing and jeffing' coming from the garage :cursing: - i think she's worried about the neighbours complaining.

First attempt to fix failed - I moved the trainer nearer to my powerline connector plugged into the garage mains..

Next step is to try the wife's laptop and see how that goes.

Anyway - good luck to all for this Thursday.

Usually ride on Tuesday's , but not till 7pm. Need to give my tea time to settle properly.Need to get this ride done, so it would be good to share the pain:ohmy: Average gradient 8.86%. No worries if it is too late tho, the offer is open to any other Moose's

Good point, I've never tried to ride at altitude.

Also, when the gradient gets really steep I find handling the bike becomes really quite difficult. On Salcombe Road Hill out of Sidmouth, when it hit 18%-20% I found it quite hard to keep the front wheel on the ground, and was too scared to stop as I was sure I would fall before I could unclip my pedals. It was one of the most stressful things I have ever done, especially since my heart rate was 185 (not bad for a at the time fairly unfit 52 year old).

On the bkool simulator it was a doddle, perfectly horizontal and bolted to the frame, I was free to put every ounce of effort into pushing the pedals round.

Anyone on here done any of the big Alpine climbs in the real world, particularly d'Huez or Ventoux?

Cheers,

Geoff
