I completely messed up the start and lost time, went like a mad thing until I got to you and run out of puff, i was happy to stick with you but then you slowly pulled a gap on me but I couldn't respond. I had to pop into the velodrome to cool down, still dripping like wet thing on a wet day.

Ha! I messed up the start too (AGAIN!) - too keen! So annoying

Fantastic race up front . If only I could have been a part of it but didn't quite have the power tonight.

Sean blasted past me a few times before realising he could make the jump to Lars & Bob. Well impressive performance.
Lars & Bob, you two are too fast for me now. I might have to splash out on a double chainring set in a futile attempt to keep up with you.
Bad news Bob. There seems to be no sign of your ride in the results. I've had to approve most of the rides but yours wasn't there. If you know your time I'm sure we can fix it.

Looks like a fantastic race for everyone though I was oblivious at the time. Kept looking back to see where you were Bill but also knew you had been doing lots of 100 rides so thought you might not be be at your best.
lets see if this works:
Tin Can Ten Time Trial
  • star-3_5__v12703.png

  • Sutton Bonington / Nottinghamshire / United Kingdom
2 laps of the famous Loughborough Phoenix Time Trial circuit to make the 10.4mile time trail. Plus a little extra bit to get us to the pub :-)

  • LBHIFI has set a record time

Type Date TIME Distance Effort watt/Kg Slope reduction Weather conditions Challenge Copy
10/12/2015

22:48 17.1 Km. 0%
None Unknown

does that seem right Bill, 5 seconds or so slower than Sean.

Oh yes, i joined the other race and had to drop out which may be why my time was not showing?

Bob. Not sure what data I'm supposed to be looking at there but out of curiosity I did click on Sean's name to try to get to his home page but it's forbidden. He doesn't seem to be a chain gang member so just joined the race randomly. Looked to me like he had a "special" way of going very quickly as the power required to propel him at that speed would mean he had a red top at least. Conversely I felt bad for Runar who has the power but doesn't seem to have the freewheeling momentum that the later Pro units have.

Edit: Ok I understand Bob. To get your time registered.

All I need is for you to put in a short dummy league ride so I can adjust it.

Ahh, sorry Bill. That is pretty messy. Think my time is 22.48.

Sadly, I doubt I'll ever be able to make the thursday eve rides. 7pm is my eating time!

Hopefully I'll make the Saturdays, want to ride with the others. It might spur me on a bit.

Thanks for hosting the race Bill.

I was going to question why Pro-minator did not win this one with his massive watt output, but decided to just check how much one can save by drafting.
I'm guessing that Pro-minator was on his own up front, while I had the benefit of drafting throughout the whole race.
Here's a little test I found

, and it looks like it is not entirely impossible to end up with the numbers we see here with drafting vs no drafting.
Oh, and Bob, that was quite a convincing "knee-test" ^_^.

Ok! Who started the parallel ride so there were two sessions going?

I thought that only happened on bkool facebook races. :banghead:

That was I Sir, the newbie getting all jittery about missing the get go and missed it anyway.

Looks like I came second in the end riding blind but still disapointed that I missed the live race which is something I was really looking forward to.
In my years of BKooling I have never diliberately joined in to a live race other than by chance so I was looking forward to the experience.

Appologies if I messed up anyone elses race tonite as a few name joined in but most left pretty quickly.

I had to watch that in silent mode but I think I got the gist. I think drafting makes a bigger difference in real life but I think the reason you beat AAAC is that the PRO's that we have, show lower power but have the slingshot momentum that AAAC's classic does not have. You can beat him on the chaingang rides but little chance on the conventional mountain goat rides with the kind of power he registers.

Unfortunately its not Watts that wins races more average speed.
I have never been that convinced about my wattage so I ride on my HR.
If I go over 160 too early I'll probably fade unless there is a long decent to recover on.
I never put much effort in when descending if my speed exceeds 50kph/30mph as I find extra effort seems to achieve very little (drag proportional to velocity squared). However even when descending with little effort you wattage stays falsely high due to the algorithm used to calculate power.
I must admit on my mostly lonely ride I did experience the Pro effect having descended quicker that two others just to be whooped at the start of a reasonable ascent.

I think you'll know how to find us next time AAAC. Sorry, I just assumed you must have joined many live races before. You might have been faster in the main race though as you could have been drafting. Main thing though is it's much more fun. We do a re-run on Saturday at 5pm if you are able.
