Bloody hell Bill, the graph for that first one looks like a wall not a hill!
I'd be tempted to have a bash at this months goat league, as they are relatively short bar one, but I have the 2nd half of the T100 to do

Could I get into the handicapped race on Thursday please Geoff?

Could be my only chance to be close to some of you lunatics at the finish line! :boxing:

No problem Tommy, the more the merrier. Only question is what start time do you want?

On Stage 3 you came in very close to Whorty (10.0), and on Stage 4 very close to Noah (9.5).

How about we start you alongside Noah at 9.5 mins and adjust if necessary for the re-run if you are up for it a second time.

I tried chasing your ghost on stage 4 yesterday. It hurt :B) :surrender:

theboxers, on Stage 2 you finished just behind Jamie (8.5) and ahead of bazer99 (8.0), Stage 3 right at the back (very flat profile) and Stage 4 behind TurboTommy (9.5) but ahead of Rob (10.0).

So we could go with 8.0, 9.5 or the 6.5 discussed.

Go on, pick a figure that you think you can live with... we can then adjust if need be if you do the second run.

I'm keen to give everyone a fair run at a high finish, but also keen to avoid anyone running away with it, as it will spoil the close finish we are going for.

Looking at at these finishing places, it is interesting how varied they are, which I presume is often due to the profile.

Cheers,

Geoff

I still smile at the memory of doing that bloody awful ride twice in one evening, after getting my BKool poke about having been challenged and beaten by you, by 1 bloody second. I just couldn't let it go... .

To me that was one of those legendary bkool moments (almost up there with Randy and his wormhole ), when I discovered that having all showered and gotten settled down to relax for the evening, you had to go out and do it all over again ^_^ . I think there was a message on this forum with numerous expletives just before you went out to do your re-run. You did it though Adam and you re-beat me by a good 20 seconds or so :cycle: and there was no way I was going back to do it again, not that I'd probably have managed anyway having already knackered myself as much as I was willing to.

I think I picked that one because the average slope is over 12% and I think that might suit the guys with a few extra kilos, as the pro unit can only simulate up to a certain gradient dependant on the rider weight. So thought there was a chance of upsetting the status quo with that one. But only a small chance unfortunately, not sure if it'll help us against the classic riders.

I had enough of that when I as an young student had to repair my Citroen Visa myself. When I was done I had a bag of nuts and bolts leftovers:scratch:, but who's counting . I got it running again, but the damn thing broke down on me not too long after...never figured out why:whistle:.

Hey Lars, just wondering, did bkool send all the Wiggle batch of pro units to you for assembly before being shipped to Wiggle Uk?
Or do you perhaps refurbish their broken ones for resale?

@Monte I really hope you didn't go for another Wiggle one.

I was worried that the usual suspects would hit the front too early in the race, but the more I think about it the harder I think it is going to be to shake off someone who is normally just a little slower than you. So as people close up into little groups it might be hard to pull away from them. Dropping one person is a lot easier then dropping a group of several, as they'll have the option of drafting each other and sharing the work to close back up again.

It is certainly possible that anyone among the faster guys can gain enough to give top 3 a run for it, but equally one of the earlier starters could gain considerable amounts of time from drafting and the additional motivation, so we may get a surprise winner.

The variation in order from stage to stage seems quite pronounced, and working out fair starting times is proving difficult, as many runs are affected by external influences or fitness/motivation.

In reality, we really need the fastest times from many attempts at the actual stage being run to get an accurate handicap for everyone. I suggest that if the handicaps prove popular that stages are repeated to get more accurate handicaps, but perhaps, for variety, a number of popular stages are rotated so each is done regularly but not too often that it becomes dull.

For example, stages like Alpe d'Huez are repeated endlessly, so they make good candidates.
