You do have a lot of fight in you though Bob. I needed quite a rest before I could come past and actually make it stick. Each time I rode past you normally you just came straight past me again.

Ta Bill, problem is no real staying power at the moment to make it more of a fight. Would have been good to stay with you for longer. Legs giving up before the lungs so I Think I need to get some decent miles in them.

I ended up using a 28mm wheel tonight after I lost a fight with my 23mm wheel whilst trying to sort my gears out! Beat my best time by about 5 minutes so I'm happy with that. @bobinski and @bridgy what sort of gearing are you guys running, you both absolutely flew past me!!

I think I remember that! In my case I think it was a case of spinning fast with some residual speed from a downhill section and your resistance had obviously kicked in before mine as the slope levelled back out. My gearing is standard old 10 speed 105 - nothing special!

Take a look at the Starts (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5jqawhcxb2hsvsp/Bkool Indoor 01_03_16 20_00_02.mp4?dl=0)

JLaw (at 05:15) and CXRAndy (at 8:00), both on KICKR's, clearly show the problem with starting, huge wattage and pitifully slow acceleration.

If you want to refer @Bkool to these recordings I'll leave them in my Dropbox for as long as I can.

Yea, it's almost comical to watch... I figure they'll get it sorted out over time. Ultimately I spot everyone else not on a kickr 20-30 seconds. Just makes me work harder...

We didn't quite get that drafting m'larky between us did we
Nope. Probably doesn't help that I don't keep a consistent speed well. I saw someone mention tapping the brakes a bit to help equalizing the speed when pulling into a drafting position -- but that's not an option on a kickr. All I can do is back off pedaling and I've yet to find that sweet spot.

It did seem like you were trying. Maybe next time -- if I can stop coughing prior to the next race.

Weird! It's almost the opposite problem of the bkool trainers which give a far too generous burst of speed before the resistance kicks in both at the start and whenever you accelerate from low watts during the ride (see the on/off debate!) - a halfway house between the two extremes would be good Bkool!

Well that went a little better than expected. Fitted a new tyre just before the ride and it was one I'd accidentally ordered as a 25 instead of a 23. never tried it before but straight away I could see the power readout was higher than usual and was able to keep it up longer. W/kg almost as high as LB's now.

Bill, do you know you were just shy of 100kmh on the 1st downhill

OK, Official Handicap Chase results from 1st March 2016

These are the results assuming everyone started exactly at their start time (a few were really late).
Congratulations to Stuart, no idea how you improved by over 5 minutes, but your Handicap will be mullered for a future run...

Even harder to fathom is how Bill managed to drop nearly a minute from his already record time. :notworthy::bravo:

Also heading for a spinach abuse handicap adjustment is Soarerv8, making great progress! :training:

Dropping the three outliers, everyone finished within 3 minutes and 1 second!

Well done everyone. :wahhey::cheers:

Do you just use this on the trainer Bill or on the road as well?

To be hones Bert I hate those tyres on the road because they puncture so easily. I remember a couple of years ago when I did laps of my local park, going from a bontrager which had never punctured in over a year to the continental ultra sport and it punctured within the week. On the turbo however the continental is a fair bit quicker than the bontrager. So I keep separate bikes for the road and the turbo. The best one is of course usually on the turbo.

Last nights Handicap kicked the stuffing out of me. I was straight to bed after that.
I'll take 1/2lb of that spinach please Soarer, and I've ordered a juicer and an ultra sport Continental tyre.
If that doesn't work, the tyre gets juiced. I have a sneaking suspicion I might be out of 'gains' now, and predict my progress will be a little more torturous and hard earned....a day I have feared since I returned to my turbo.
Might find myself wheeling out the 'picking a kitchen' or 'rescuing a bird stuck in a tree' excuses before too long, if Camlo doesn't pop in here and grass me up.

I think it's the ultra sports I use on my outdoor bike. They came free with the wheels. Funnily enough I've never had a puncture on it! Must try it on the trainer to see how it goes.
