I few days later I was having a full ECG and a week after that I had 3 heart stents fitted and I have never looked back.

I had lone Atrial fibrillation a few years ago. Heart scans and a few months of drugs. Came off the drugs and not been affected since, touchwood

My heart rate was around 170 which is about normal for me at the start - if anything often goes higher at the start, and that's usually where it peaks in the race. I just couldn't breathe properly or get my breath back for a bit. Usually I'll be breathing heavily of course but all under control!

You quickly opened up a gap of about a minute on me over the first bumps and the downhill, but on the flatter sections I could gain a little time on you by some more efficient slingshotting it seemed. I noticed that you slingshotted too, but I think mine worked just a little better. I think I was within 20 seconds at one point.
The final blow for me was when I ran out of Foo Fighters about 10 K's from finish. Then I suddenly felt how much the legs were hurting and had to ease of a bit.

The power into slope slingshots work all too well on the short slopes and they sometimes don't slow you at all but I am glad I was not the only one dying near the end.
As I said I had too ease up at one point as well and did actually pull the power altogether at one point all be it BSim won't show that because the wheels were still turning.
I only took my 52T ring off yesterday as it was giving me too many chain drops with the 34T inside ring (16T max recommeded by Shimano). I really would have like it today as the inside ring was not needed on this one.
My initial sprint like mad from the line seemed to hang on for ages today as well so that probably helped me.

Do you warm up Bridgy, blasting up to 170 without a warm up could cause he odd problem.

The only other time I had a similar issue is when I realised I still had a wine bottle in my gob and that was restricting my breathing.
It normaly does not have that effect but its obviously not good to drink and ride.

I warmed up for around 30 minutes. Pretty much the same routine as usual. Thinking about it though I maybe didn't get my heart rate as high as I should have before starting. I was distracted by not seeing the other riders and trying to log in and out instead of concentrating on the last 10 minutes warm up

Just renewed the Premium for a full year to save any further problems and ticked the box in my setting to get 'BKool info and Promos' so perhaps I'll get a subscription reminder next year.

PS Bill, I wont be able to do the handicap on Tuesday as I will be in Barcelona on a short break to celebrate starting another year of my life with my nearest and dearest.

It sounds like the behemoth was a popular, but painful suggestion :hello:. I did improve my PB on it by 16 minutes :wahhey:

LB thanks for the recording . It shows just how bad I am at going up hills :surrender:.

Geoff it is a shame the uphill speed does not match the down. Saddly excess weight penalises more up than it gains down :cursing: :banghead:

I will probably not be doing a saturday re-run :B). Once is enough for me on this one, until I forget how bad it hurts :headshake:

Next proper session will be a handicap qualifier

In fairness it would take some list of excuses to beat AAAC 76C's. Did i not mention i noticed my rear brakes rubbing, tyre pressure down to 70psig, oh and the dog pissing on my left leg at the start line.

Getting your legs warmed up before a ride is an aid to riding faster not an excuse for being slower! Get the dog to do both legs next time^_^

all by myselfff...dont wanna be all by myselfff any more.......Eric Carmens my best mate....

That was weird at the start. Got a good start but the countdown clock wouldnt go off the screen for ages & the picture was frozen. Gets worse..

Grollocks.......just got drafting with Bill after an age closing the gap (I know you waited Bill - ta).....graphics are going haywire with me/Bill jumping around each other and wont hold steady. I am thinking not good..its gonna crash...then it freezes then disconnects but reopens again and then bang....Bsim has stopped working pop up. Think its my shite graphics software on this laptop. Ride lost after about 15 minutes.

Re-opened the ride again - 19 minutes down to the last placed rider on the road....ok so the long scream starts again.....ho hum...cocking hill at the starts just as bad.....dead at the end but managed a burst of 500w at the end. Legs are ok but I havent ridden since Monday - shagged and early nights. All caught up with me.

Off to Mallorca with the boys next week for some bigger cocking hills....nay....mountains....

see you tomorrow for the re-run

Just watched the videos, all I can say is wow!. The impressive power from AAAC:notworthy: Not just the power but the ability to sustain it for long periods, I can do that power but not for any length of time. I guess that is what separates gods from mere mortals ^_^ I take my hat off to you- awesome

The start was hilarious, a long line disappeared into the distance, my little legs spinning away and not a lot happening, just waiting for bkool to let me have go at deciding my speed.

I suspect you are right, as you can see on the recording that your network connection seemed fine, right up to the point you disappeared...

I saw you start again at the beginning, and I was impressed with your determination! :heat:

I'll start a session for Geoff's handicap qualifier this evening, at 7:50'ish to start at 8pm sharp, for anyone that's interested or needs a base time.
I know a lot of you will be hitting the bottle hard about that time on a Friday, but hope to see a couple of the AA members and teetotallers.

I might be there yet, the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look inviting. The idea of being out in rain and sleet, with temparatures about 0-3c for several hours isn't appealling. Mind you my legs need to recover from last nights chaingang, that was hard work.

I'd definitely join you Adam but unfortunately my legs have both just fallen off... I've tried to lay with my belly on the saddle and peddle with my arms but I've now dislocated a shoulder too!

Sorry, just thought I'd put an early bid in for excuse of the day.

Morning chaps :cuppa:
