That looked painful . The lowest average power visible to me was just under 200 watts:cry:. That's higher than my ftp rating :cursing:. 25 mph + average .

Looks like I will not be using this group for a ghosting session :surrender:

Despite my average HR being about 15-16 BPM less than I would normally expect, I found that quite taxing tbh. I think we established early on you can't neatly rotate every 45s it just doesn't work. I think you need to let the strongest rider do the majority of the work, and when they need a break, the next strongest assumes the helm.
I wasn't sure when I dropped back to you Kipster, if you were retiring or not, but as long as the gap didn't reach more than 25-30s I was ready to try and tow you back. Bob...that was surely an amble for you, judging by the way you set off at Mach 4, with your pants on fire with a mile or so to go?

The lack of a warm up didn't help, it's a long ride to just slog it out. I think you and Bridgy would work well together on this course.

Good ride guys, thanks for coming back for me, those long 0% sections were leg sapping. Shoulder aches a bit more now so that might have been a bit long, nearly stopped at an hour, but with only 15 ish minutes left decided to stick it out, might pay for that later.

You hardly needed our help Kipster :okay: Excellent ride everyone. There were points when we were practically team time trialing. We would be ace in the velodrome:okay:
Sorry for pushing on a bit near the end. Not just my competitive nature but pressure to get down from the attic and make the family Easter breakfast.
Enjoy your Easter eggs everyone^_^

God no, not an amble. I too found it quite taxing, not least because drafting takes a lot of concentration. I think that's why I kept trying to push the pace .That was easier and I didn't have to look at your kit:tongue:
But despite yesterday's ride I had some power in the legs and wanted to make the most of it at the end.

I think we would for a bit, but it would boil back down to that high cadence thing again. Bridgy will be able to sustain it for longer than me. I can go all out for half an hour and stay with him, but on an hour long one like this I run the risk of blowing up halfway if I try to stay with him.....but of course I'll try!

My average wattage was about 30W lower, heart rate about 6bpm lower and for an average speed nearly 3mph faster compared to a solo ride. There were definitely times when I could feel the draft working well

Adam and Bob, even Kipster to some degree were still within their comfort zone looking at heart rate. Mine began to creep up from about half way. I think I need some endurance work, still I was chuffed with the ride

My ride hasn't appeared in the league, everyone else has?

The hardest thing to control is the overshooting. If you drop back out of the draft, put in a big push to catch back up, hit the draft zone and overshoot the leader. Similarly when in front, I found myself sometimes easing off as someone was pushing to catch, and that would compound the problem.
But a very worthwhile exercise, and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure about being in my comfort zone though, I felt pressured the whole way....just not nauseous when I finished!
The other main problem I had was MTV on in front of me. Selena Gomez in a sexy negligee was a lot more compelling to watch than you guys and your draft zones, so I may have zoned out a few times.

I did notice though that my speed seemed to spend a lot of time in the blue up to about 40-41 kmh. If I pushed on to mid 40's the numbers turned white. But then i would pull too far ahead. I don't recall see blue numbers on the flat before. Perhaps it reflects impact of successful drafting?
