I try Bill, I really do try

Actually, when I re-did the chaingang ride on my own the other day with yours, LB & AAAC's ghosts (I felt justified putting your ghosts in to chase as I'd missed the start of the live race due to IT issues!) I was encouraged to find I could hold on reasonably comfortably at the start and that did mean I could tag on and draft with you guys for half the race or thereabouts, which obviously really helped my time.

I think I'm gradually improving my general "Bkool technique" as well as my fitness but I'm way behind some of you guys (with both!) Looking at last night's ride my average watts were well up on you and Bobinski despite making quite an effort to be clever with saving my energy on the downs and digging in hard on the ups, so I clearly need to find more efficiencies somewhere!

Yeah, but you did beat my time handsomely not just last night but my previous best time too and I suspect you are also getting stronger and stronger.:bravo:

I try and speed up 3-5 seconds before the incline starts, powering up, but am often caught out changing down gears as the resistance suddenly rather than gradually kicks in. Also, sometimes i overcook it getting the watts up and then when the resistance does hit I am left with nothing. You have to be strong enough, like Bill, to carry through more often.

You can still get good effect even if you back off the power as soon as you feel resistance. Sometimes at that point you just haven't got the 500watts it seems to be asking of you so you can then just wait for it to slow down to the realistic speed, ensuring that you're fully changed down to the right gear by then. I sometimes mess that bit up too, but I'm better than I used to be.

Good job Bill. The next race half of the other riders are going to be stuck in the highest gear at a dead stop standing on the pedals and the other half off their bikes putting their chains back on while you ride off into the sunset.
Very devious.

Had a blow out! I had it doing the ride the other night .... I was chasing @theboxers ghost then started to lose time drastically. Could hear a starnge noise but put it down to just hearing things. Seems no, I did have a flat and cycled about 20km with no air LOL Anyway, no cycling for me until the weekend as I need to get a spare tube. I know, I should plan better, but I didn't expect a flat using a dedicated turbo tyre :banghead: show's how much i know:wacko:

the turbo tyres are interesting ... pressing on the sides and it's clearly a flat, but press down and due to the thickness of the tyre it just feels a bit deflated. This is probably why I could still ride on it without it being completely obvious it was a flat.

Can't get it fixed 'til Saturday ... v. annoyed!

I too have just run stage 1 chasing @theboxers ghost, fortunately for me my patched up rear tyre (5 patches on the tyre, 3 patches on the tube) held out and I was able to put in a PB, in case anyone's forgotten already that last hill is a nasty little mare but I do have a love/hate relationship with it as helped me to have a great ghostly battle with theboxers. On the downhill he swoops away but as soon we hit the incline I was creeping back :bicycle:.

Great ride.

Just giving Bkool a try, can I join the 100 climbs group on the free platform?
No problem, but the league is no longer active. However, you should be able to schedule the sessions by going to the "Past" tab on the league page and challenge somebody or copy the session.Your rides will of course not count toward the league, since it is no longer active.
