I didn't adjust my effort to manipulate the system. But because of my weight I get an unrealistic advantage unless I adjust my effort, simply because the turbo cannot create a high enough resistance to counter my weight.
It's a strange one. I know what your saying Bob but at the very least there should be a question mark next to the extreme stages. I don't want to back off but I don't want the people around me in the league to have a disadvantage. Either way it didn't stop me sleeping last night

I didn't sleep! That effort last night made my cold worse and Mrs B particularly unhappy at a sleepless night caused by my coughing and sneezing.

I think I take a fairly relaxed approach to this whole blue numbers thing. I suspect that the advantages due to variations in weight, relative to incline or flat kind of balance out over a league like this one where the riding is so varied. I am cool with people flagging up or deleting their rides. But i don't expect it.

The interesting thing for me last night is that i could barely muster the power to trouble my heart rate. I was in the granny ring for so much of the ride and yet couldn't turn those pedals fast enough anyway.

I always find HR on the Bkool is a very good indication of how I'm feeling - if I'm in any way under the weather I just can't get my HR up as high as normal, no matter hard I try.

Hope you feel better soon Bob

Just had a little go at stage 5.....

Sorry @Add (not really!) - I challenged your ride so I could see how I was doing against your time - no drafting advantage on that course!

For the record, I did see blue numbers quite often on the steepest sections - they just appeared and I kept pedaling and then eventually they went white again. Don't think I got any unfair advantage and don't know how I'd have avoided them! Actual speed itself didn't seem to change.

Awesome time Bridgy :okay:

Thanks Bob.

The power figures are nonsense though - it's like the resistance max's out but gives you the benefit of the power you'd be producing at that speed if it hadn't (if that makes any sense?!)

Good God man, what are you playing at?!? That is an awesome performance.
395 Watts average?!? Well there is no way on Earth I can beat that. Well done mate!

Those are impressive watts! What's your weight? Perhaps I am just a wimp but it seems I can never ride through the resistance

LIVING THE DREAM
Having never seen an uphill blue number, I don't have the same 'Armstrong' debate in my head. I was on the small ring at the front and about halfway through my rear cassette for pretty much the whole thing. I didn't get any slippage at all, and managed to keep my power fairly consistent throughout.
My only concern was 'blowing up' as Tommy put it, and I was right on the brink of doing just that. It was the green hat incentive that kept me going.
I did get out of bed this morning and immediately face plant into the carpet, as my legs were totally uncompliant. I also have Stanna Stairlifts coming to measure up next week.
Ramirez, I think our riding styles are very similar, I can only get sustained power down if I stand up and dig deep. If I try to drop to an easier gear, and spin it out, my legs implode very quickly.

Is Stanna a bid to improve your climbing times?
Isn't that mechanical doping and should be subject to a 6 year ban and a very large fine!
