Wtf?!?
Who stared early?
Yeah that early start was a bit unexpected!

My PC "encountered a problem" and decided it needed to restart, but not until after I'd buried myself trying to keep in touch with AAAC on that big hill at the start

Couldn't face doing all of that hill again so when the PC was finally up and running again I chose to re-join with the last rider and rode it from there for the exercise but without too much enthusiasm!

Thanks for all the waiting AAAC, but my legs were like jelly tonight so I was just slowing you down. Hopefully you can get a decent time in on Saturday, but I won't be there so that's my time put in tonight.
Bob I don't know how you managed in you loft tonight. I had my air con on but was still roasting.

Yep, it did get a bit hot! I had 2 fans going but there were a few times when I couldn't see because of sweat in my eyes. It all adds to the drama^_^ I doubt it affected my speed. You guys were already a minute ahead by time I got going and I am not silly enough to think I can stay with you at the moment let alone catch any of you so I just wanted to limit the damage and 3 minutes was my marker. The best thing is it's the first time in 4-5 months I have not had pain or discomfort in my knee while on the turbo. Long way yet before ITB subsides but I have felt compelled to open a bottle of red^_^.

Boy did I misjudge that one!!!!!

Looked at the profile and thought if I got to the top of the big climb I'd be able to coast to the finish - so I put too much into the climb and those little kicks on the way down really took their toll.

@bridgy came past me with 6 miles to go (not sure where he'd been) and slowed to give me atow. Much appreciated but my legs were gone and I couldn't latch on.

Seemed to get a second wind for the last mile,so at least that was is now done and dusted.

My pc crashed so I restarted behind Rob. Yeah I thought I'd try and give you a bit of a tow but unfortunately I caught you just when we hit a 6% incline and I am not sure I was much help! Sorry for not waiting longer for you - I actually wasn't sure if I was being an unwelcome distraction!

Waiting! I was absolutely ballcocks.

I had an idea that Bridgy and yourself would descend faster than me so I put a lot into the climb to get a buffer with the idea that you would catch me and then we could share the pain of the flatter section.
The plan was going well until Bridgy 'left the session' so then I was left wondering where he was so I had to keep going and you were gaining as well.
For the whole second half of the race I was just trying to keep ahead of you thinking that you have a better sprint than me but luckily for me you were obviously as empty as I was.
I was also in a lot of discomfort today on the saddle as I am going through a bit of a rough patch with the older man problems,so much so I may have to give turbo training a rest.
I was OK going up when you you are pushing hard on the pedals which takes the weight off of the saddle but going down at higher cadence with less pressure on the pedals is a killer!

Sorry to hear that @AAAC 76C, I'm sure we can all sympathise with that type of discomfort. Hope you can find a solution - I guess you've already exhausted alternative saddle options?

I was sitting up doing stretches coz I still had 2 mins and had turned my fans off. I did a little panic, reached down to turn each one on whilst quietly swearing away^_^

When you popped back in I did fear you might chase me down!

I wouldn't say I've tried everything but my current saddle, Specialized Romin, is normally fine, it's only when I am not fine that I get the discomfort.

I never would have guessed it. I just assumed you were taking it easy knowing you'd put in a better time later.
There was never any doubt you would beat me in my mind as I was struggling to make 200 watts towards the end at times and the hills were just killing me.
Hope you don't have to give the turbo a rest for too long as you have made the racing more interesting for us. Got to look after your man parts though. I know you've tried a lot of saddles in your time, but for my 24 hour races I use a ladies saddle as it really spreads the load. I haven't seen anyone else do this who is not female, but after doing it the once I would not spend 24 hours on the bike without it now. I've not yet tried it on the turbo though.

I have considered it. I have wide sit bones and a lot of womens saddles also have good pressure relief areas. In fact I did try one but it was too soft.

I'll start the session tonight Rick. Thanks for setting it all up. And Good Luck with your race tonight. Let us know how you get on.

Everyone. Make sure you put your weight back to it's correct amount before the race as it will not be approved otherwise. If any of the guys you're normally racing alongside seem to be going just that little bit too fast, you let me know :okay:.

So 7pm start as usual with the 10 mins warm up. see you all there.

We'll need someone else to start the Saturday re-run as I won't be able to make it. Thanks.
Sorry, missed that one. I was busy doing a real life time trial.

Unfortunately the girl I chased was considerably faster than me this time. 23 seconds, which is about 1 second per km.
Compared to last year, the level was generaly raised a notch. Guys from 2 groups down would have incredible TT bikes with disc wheels costing almost what my whole bike does. I have a pretty heavy clincher discwheel and opted it out, due to amount of turns and hills we faced.
Looks like I'm 6th in my group with an avg. speed of 40 kph (24.85 mph)
