LIVING THE DREAM
I know Hundred House only too well! You'd better not mention names......just in case!
Did you know Eddie and Pauline Hayes, they lived just short of Hundred House on the Builth side.
They were good friends of Dave and June who owned a farm on the other side of the village just off the A481. Apparently Dave was not too welcome in the area to start with because his farming methods didn't follow the locals views however he won quite a few folk over and became well respected.
If you knew Eddie you'd probably never forget him (God rest his soul).

Rapha bibs are the nicest I've ever owned. Assos also excellent. DHB are excellent value for money but not as comfortable in my opinion although this is all obviously subjective. As kipster says definately invest in some chamois creme it's a life saver. Getting bibs that fit you properly is vital as if the pad slips around it causes chaffing.

Oh and stop being a tight git and treat yourself!

So you guys reckon all the above shorts are a big improvement over my 16 quid shimano ones and my 9 quid decathlon ones? Sizing seems a bit strange in that my shimano's are XL but I'd expect to be a medium or large. Anyone know if the other makes use similar sizing? Might go to Evan's on Saturday and try them out.

Good grief man I have just looked online a couple of hundred quid to stop my knackers sticking to the saddle what do you think I am, made of money?

Good thing I looked at the Assos first the DHB are now looking like a positive bargain.

If I receive aggressive chaffing I will rue this email, my tightwad nature and mostly @bridgy I am quite sure.
Fat Lad/Lass At The Back are woth a look. Designed for the :mrpig: amongst us. I have 3 sets, 2 size 10 (one should be in the bin) and one size 9. I dont get chaffage or sweat problems. My issue is more saddle related I think :B).

Bill different brands definately size up differently. And different styles within a specific brand too. I'd use sizing charts to get a rough idea. Then order a few different pairs, try them out on the turbo, and after picking the winners send the rest back. You won't really get a lot out of trying them on in a bike shop apart from seeing how they look on. You really need to spend some time in your riding position to make a good choice. I think the general consensus is you need to be forced into a slightly hunched position when standing. I'd suggest cheaper pairs for the turbo but more luxurious bibs for long days in the saddle.

Keep an eye on Planet X 's site mate they have had some good deals on there lately. I got a pair of their bib shorts a few weeks ago and they are comfy.

Just to show how it's a very personal thing I had a pair of Planet X bibshorts which don't appear too much different to the DHB ones and found them horribly uncomfortable for some reason!

@JLaw are you joining the Handicap tonight?

I have made the neutralized zone at the start a little longer (0.15 miles, 0.24 km) to give a bit more time for you to get up to speed and for everyone to line up behind you.

Cheers,

Geoff
Nope, can't make it today as I'm at the vacation house w/o my trainer.

TT, i disagree. I cannot move about so easily to relieve pressure when on the turbo as when on the road so any hour plus turbo or goat rides and its best shorts for me.
