Stick with it andy!

It's more of a personal battle than anything else and you'll be faster each time, barring a morale sapping BKOOL update...

I'd told myself once I got under 50mins (which was still a long way off) I'd jump on a train and try the thing. I think I may have to re evaluate that target :B).

Last time I did it was well over a year ago, I remember being physically wrecked. Last night was very tough and I did sleep well. I am not giving up on it. I was more disappointed that I lost lost power and rhythm after about a third way up. Next time I'll aim for dying at half way and so on

Only software updated not firmware
That was unfortunate timing! Would have been good to hear from you how different the trainers were post-updates - maybe you'll get the chance to compare if you get the Bkool back fully repaired? I guess there will always be some differences from a direct drive trainer but it would be good if Bkool had done something to deal with some of the glaring differences between trainer models, which people report that Zwift appear to have managed to do quite well. We need someone to try both and report back, because the firmware/software updates have made quite a difference to the Bkool trainer I think

From my perspective, it's a down sight harder on the Kickr. Just looking at my recent results, I was edging nearer to you front runners, not on the same level, but could hang in there a while. Now I am mid table on results. I don't mind at all the position since I know I have improved in fitness. Using the kickr again has put me back to where I was when I started on cyclechat. I hope the Bkool pro is repaired or replaced quickly. I then can do back to back sessions and compare directly.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Looking at the last chaingang stage (5), since the update everyone's placings pretty much directly reflect their power - was never such a close correlation between power and speed previously, I guess because "slingshot" technique etc came in to play to some extent? Only exceptions are AAAC who hasn't had the firmware update, and yourself on your Kickr (plus Whorty for some reason??). Based on power, you'd be in 5th rather than 8th, between Rick and Bill, which is probably more reflective of your recent results. Shame for the competitive side of things for you, but as you say, you're still burning the calories and getting the fitness benefit at least!

Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Climb with adjusted rider weights to equalize Watts/Kg

Session is password protected, password is chase (type h twice if help screen appears)

Course is Rundlestone - http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/576968?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1

I will start the warm-up close to 8:00pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8:10pm BST (UTC+1).

Everyone taking part should adjust their weight to the allocated value before entering the warm up, preferably with at least 5 minutes to go.

Weights are generally reduced, in some cases considerably, to achieve the target Watts/Kg, so speeds should be higher than usual. The main part of the session should not take more than around 20 minutes, and in any case less than 30 minutes, to avoid changing Fitness Levels. Anyone taking longer than 30 minutes would be advised to discard their session without saving.

The Start (for everyone) should be between 8:05 and 8:10, when the warm-up ends.

Once underway, there is a short neutralized zone (0.15 miles or 0.24 km) to avoid taking advantage of the lowered resistance at start, where no-one is allowed to overtake @JLaw (or if he is not present, you must gradually increase speed to a maximum of 20 mph (32 kph) until you pass the 0.15 (0.24 km) point.

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out a weight Handicap from your FTP power value or similar.

This should make the weight handicap this evening interesting, if almost everyone has roughly the same power/weight on the climb!

Shall we all ride via a manual connection as well and see what happens? At least those that can? It may even things out-or not. I will though my legs and knees are pretty sore after last nights session.

Happy to do that - but it's quite nice weather here so if I can, I might be tempted to go for a road ride instead tonight...
