I need to start using smiley faces because I was just being a smartass. I thought it may seem funny in the UK that there is an Edinboro (spelled wrong) In the states with the team name of fighting Scots.

Edit: the actress Sharon Stone went there about the same time but I never remember seeing her.

I just wiki'ied 'edinboro' Randy

I couldn't work out if it was named by Scottish settlers who struggled with spelling, or Americans who well... are American . Turns out the original Indian name for the area translates to: "The land of the living snowflake". Which I think is at least equally as awesome and may even explain why the scots gravitated there. What with their love of the cold!

Bugger the Scotts (no offence intended/smiley face (::eek::evil:), let's talk about Sharon Stone!

Well I've just had a rant at bkool. info@bkool.com and told them their summer cup league will be rubbish unless they fix this PDQ.
I'm expecting them to reply that they don't know what I'm talking about and maybe there's a problem with my computer.
Bill
May I suggest you record a session to clearly demonstrate the problem, upload it YouTube with a complaint header. Bkool took notice when I linked them to YouTube and this forum about complaints.

I'm back from Italy, the UK seems to function just as well without a government, the weather is typical for the UK in July (left Milan in baking sunshine and 34C and landed in Bristol in drizzle and 15C) and I'm wondering what you guys want to do with the Handicap leagues July-September?

Any thoughts? The weight handicap has the advantage of not needing any particular turn out for Tuesday evening, and people can ride them at any time, but courses need to be climbs to make the Handicap work, and less than 30 minutes for the slowest times to avoid spurious fitness promotions.

I'll take the promotions :hello:. Until I get the weight shed in the real world it's the only way I'll get them .

I need to carry on with the indoor league sessions as I am having dificulty scheduling real rides in the day light . I even get problems with clashes on league sessions :cursing:.

Hope you enjoyed your break

Hi Geoff. Indeed strange how the UK hasn't ground to a halt. Unfortunately looks like I still have to go to work and pay tax and mortgage. Could it be that we don't actually need a government?
As for the weight handicap, at the moment it seems to provide us with the best competition due to bkools latest additions messing with the chaingang effectiveness. I'd say more of the same with a different hill if you have a suitable one in mind. The Rundlestone one has certainly been pretty challenging.

Here's a suggestion for tonight at 5pm.
The rerun for tonight is unfortunately not a very good one due to the latest updates so today I've gone looking to try and find a really flat one. The one I've found is Denia Alacante and I've put it to the test letting my guy automatically ride it to check for hidden steep bits and there are none. Just a blip or two which shouldn't affect us in a bad way. 21 miles.
Anyone up for doing this instead of the usual re-run?
Also I'm wondering about cancelling the league and setting up a much flatter one. Anyone agree or disagree with these proposals?

Was toying with a ride this afternoon to calm my nerves after a friend bought round his new SVR F Type to scare me, it worked.

Will try to be around at 5 for whatever is there no great desire to pedal up any hills

WOW!! Had to google SVR F type. And there was me thinking I was lucky to have got myself a 2004 A4 Avant 1.9 TDI Sport the other week.:surrender:

I know the area fairly well. Lots of flat or slightly sloping roads , unless you go inland :B). It's very popular with cyclists at the weekend . Can't make the session tonight, but if it is recorded on my home page I'll have a pop tomorrow or monday

Old league closed now as there were no objections to the suggestion.
A new league will be started ASAP but not in time for the ride at 5pm tonight.
Tonight we are therefore riding Denia Alacante which will probably also feature in the new league once set up.

So Denia Alacante. Tonight 5pm with 10 mins warmup.
This is not a league ride but will be a good test to see how well similar rides will work.

No race for me today. I am still taking it easy on my knee to try to avoid surgery.
