So you're the man to talk to about 'special' digi boxes TB?!

:hello::thumbsup:
Er :stop: No!!!

There are many ways to get content, cheap or free-ish. Special, anything, is not the way to go. For Me in particular (I actualy quite like my job, as much as I complain about it ).

I will say this though, if it is available to you, Take up a cable modem for broadband. Sure there may be cheaper deals around for broadband. But you will get the speed you pay for on cable (between you and the provider, websites are a different matter and need to be discussed with them). It is currently goes to 200Mb download for residantial, 300Mb for Business. All over a fibre/coax hybrid network. Fibre to the premise (fttp) is being done now in some places and that is going to give silly speeds. I will be visiting one of the fttp areas tomorrow.

OK sales mens hat off. No ride tonight. Got to rest up for tomorrows chaingangs viewing . I'll try to be there to take part.

Haha! Fair do ^_^

I won't be around tonight either Geoff. Enjoying the outside world a bit while I can.

Just a quick heads up to anyone having a lazy afternoon. Tdf stage has got around 13km to go as I write this and it looks like it could be a cracking finish :bicycle:

Boxers, depends on your individual aims, long rides 80+ miles need some distance training. If your targets are Timetrials then shorter based speed and intervals would suffice. That said short interval speed work will allow you to do 50 mile rides with relative ease

You actually get faster by resting. Train hard then rest.
I have done a few sessions of interval training on the bkool velodrome, of my own devising. They are brutal. :B).

I am at the moment just trying to raise the mileage at slightly quicker speeds, cadences and it seems to be helping. I don't get as tired, as early. I will be looking at using the erg mode over the winter to, encourage, me to get better. :bicycle:

Tommy, I do. I have tried various intervals Up to 2x20mins with 5 min recovery in the middle. Opinion is divided in what is the best interval. I find 1min @ 500watts affective, recover, soon as heart rate drops about 10bpm, do 1min again at 500watts. Do as many as you can.

I can't yet sustain the 1min full power, 1min recover session.

I generally pick a velodrome session 45mins or so. Do about 10laps warming up,then do my intervals and ride the rest of the session to cool down.

The other riders must think I'm mad or baiting them into a race as I whizz round on my interval

I am heading up our village inquiry to get FTTC in the village. We are awaiting BT`s quote to lay fibre 1.5miles from the nearest fibre cabinet

I started doing 1 lap as fast as I could then rolling for 4 or 5, I worked up to 3 on 3 off for about 10 repeats :B). They were not done with any power as a guide.

Now though I would be recovering at about 1/2 FTP for 3 or 4 laps then trying to do 3 or 4 laps @ 1.5 FTP. Repeat 10 times. But this will not be until the winter.

Anyone up for a repeat of the Handicap Chase this evening?
Yes, but I think I'll adjust my weight to match Bridgy's (and my actual weight this morning was 75.6 ).

Interesting stuff ankhs guys

I find it quite hard making my 'regime' organised. But I know I need to push myself harder if I'm ever going to get fitter... I hear the term empty miles and it's probably what I'm guilty of some of the time but I enjoy those miles all the same! Come the darker months I think I'll definitely be trying to be more focused in my training. That's the plan anyhow.

I'm not in tonite. Put a lot of effort into yesterdays ride after a couple of weeks off and then I will catch up with the Summer League stage 2.
Are we doing anything on Thursday as Friday I am off to Kent until Sunday?

Sorry, forgot to Answer you AAAC.
Yes its Chaingang Thursday as usual with hopefully nice flat ride with no sudden gradient changes, or minimal at least. Should be good for drafting. 7pm

IIRC there was not too many sudden large negative to positive changes (but they don't affect me atm). Lots of little gradients though. They lull you into a false sense of your power o/p.
