Looked like Bridgy had to make 100w more just to stay with me on any sort of gradient but that's probably quite realistic for the extra 30kg. For equal w/kg he'd have had to make nearer 450 at a guess.
Yeah, felt a bit heavy going up there last night for some reason :headshake:

Had a couple of anomolies - had one of the speed crashes - I think that was me you saw @JLaw . But weirdly, I also had something like one of the old slingshots on another one of the transitions into an incline and my speed stayed quite high for much longer than I was expecting - I think I flew by someone when this happened!

By the way, why do you think it is that I appear to be quicker up these handicap climbs than Bill or LBHIFI and need 15-20kgs extra weight added to my handicap to level things out when they are both usually stronger than me on the normal chaingang rides? Same for AAAC really - whilst it makes sense that he's quicker and needs even more weight on his handicap, the difference in weight handicap required for him over Bill and LBHIFI is a lot more than I'd expect from the differences between them in the chaingang leagues?

I believe that bkool still lets riders who can spin very high, develop alot more power when using high cadence on less steep and flat courses. The handicap routes due to their steepness bring cadences back down into the normal range restoring power levels to normal levels, well that is my theory ^_^

@gbrown I have completed last nights leg, rather painfully after a week off the bike

Stupid bkool has me @ Elite 10:eek::hyper: Crazy!
Looks like we both got fitness levels upgraded to Elite after that Denia Alicante route as stage 1 of the current league. Weird thing is my (dodgy, unrealistic) w/kg was 5.85 w/kg and it put me to Elite 3, and yours was 4.83 w/kg and it put you to Elite 10! Work that one out!

I noticed your speed crash and I had one too in a different place. I also saw your slingshot and was surprised by that. It was me who you flew by while quite a way from the start of the hill.

I've often wondered about this too. I think you are generally stronger than me, but my tyre is probably better for the fast chaingang rides which pulls me up level with you. I still think it's how fast you can climb a hill that is the real test. As for AAAC, it doesn't seem to matter how much weight he gets added, he still wins. probably needs 120kg. @gbrown

After a certain point, I don't think it makes much more difference. A decent gradient will reach maximum resistance on the trainer if the weight is really heavy, and it just helps go faster on any downhill bits! I guess it depends on the resistance, but I am sure a powerful rider can overcome the resistance on even a moderate gradient with their weight in three figures!

P.S. Just got a Garmin radar rear light to play with, tired of jumping out of my skin as faster cyclists whizz past me while I am concentrating on keeping my heart rate down! An entire club ride went past last sunday, then immediately pulled over to re-group and do it again a few minutes later!

I have to keep resisting the urge to make excuses to each rider that comes past!

Especially the ladies... :shy:

I was thinking of getting a t-shirt printed up with a long list of excuses for going so slowly!

Sounds like you need one of those top 10 lists

And the number one excuse given as to why you beat me in the tour de Nowheresville on Sunday is.......

I can't go any faster my doctor won't let me!!!
