300km a week through London on a road bike.
Fair point .... i didn't want to name too many speedsters .... I didn't want to scare him off
Now you've gawn and done it!

Anyway, to update, there was no FTP test tonight as I only sat down for dinner about half an hour ago, and about now, I have a bottle of Wild Turkey to get aquainted with. Maybe I'll do it in the morning, or have my first ride do it for me, as suggested by @BILL S I didn't even get to open my floor fan, let alone set the thing up!

the fan is more important than the bike !!!! you will just be a puddle on the floor if there aint a fan
if this weather is as bad as it is suppose to be i might be tempted to join in this evening just to remind myself how much it hurts ^_^

To guage yourself against the Cyclechat guys, pick a ride they have already done and 'challenge' them. This will give you a feel for your fitness against in the chaingang rides. You can 'challenge' a league ride it's just that if you haven't yet been accepted in the league your ride won't count in the league (hope that makes sense).

My Summer Cup ride yesterday had both @rob01792 and @theboxers in - if you challenge my ride you will get us all as ghost to help you pace the ride. If you completely burn us off, then you'll know that staying with us will be a bad move and you might want to find someone faster - @TurboTommy or @Randyberlin or @kipster will be up the road waiting for you

As @Whorty said pick a stage on a league ride and have a go. Try this one.

It's the xcountry circuit from the summer cup. It is also fairly short, 5-15 minutes. Many on here have done it, from the @AAAC 76C and @BILL S rockets, to the slug slow like me .
Do it like you would a normal race ride and see how you do :bicycle:

I've just setup a weight handicap session for today. I missed Tuesdays normal run so I have to play catch up. Opimisticly I've included a few ghosts to try and beat .

After that I'm going to see what else is Live and have a go.

Won't you lose your superpowers if you adjust your weight down? On the 12%+ sections you went past me and Rob's ghost last night on the Summer Cup ride like the proverbial sh1t off a shovel

What I gain with the lower weight I lose going downhill. I also don't generate enough power to really make use of the lower weight below 6 or 7%. Still it is nice to pass the likes of bill or bob or bridgy going uphill .

AAAC is just a force of nature. Unless I get a head start, there's no way I am going to pass him .

Being on a Classic trainer has its perks . You do, however, still have to put in the work to make use of those perks :cursing:.

When we still had the powers, before the FM upgrade, I tried the pulse way and to be fair, it was much harder for me than my normal constant smooth (ish!) power. I just didn't have the lungs or the legs to pulse. The speed you get might be generous () but as you say the effort to do it is still no walk in the park (or cycle down the canal path).

I may have to try one of the handicap races .... be interesting to see if I can beat one of the speedsters :bicycle: although I suspect I'll still be last

TB flew past me on the first climb of the Summer Cup Stage 7 Triathlon course this morning and left me standing, trailing in a good 6 minutes behind.

I've got a Classic 2 and since the firmware upgrades I'm down to 3.5 mph on anything greater than 8%, so i might be better getting off and walking - but I suppose that's more realistic to the real world.

But it's all good exercise which is what we want to achieve from all the pain.

This was me on my trainer last year before the 1 dot something to 2 dot something fw update. I also had a problem with steep downhills where the software would kick me out of a session. Much frustration in a league situation :banghead:.

I re-attempted all of the Top 100 climbs I'd done in that league after the update. Most I improved by a small amount as the speeds shown were the same as my wheel speed. Some I had a massive improvement due to gaining the slingshot.

There appears to have been no fw update for the classics since last year  .

Sadly not me these days. I'm still getting back from a knee problem (caused by shoveling gravel not biking) and am paying the price with 10 added pounds and not enough Bkooling.

Hello guys, thank you for the tips - great ideas and I will be sure to try them out. Not sure I'll fit them in now as i have just completed the FTP test and I feel like I never want to get on the bike again, well, for today at least!

The house is empty at the moment and that never happens, so would be a shame to miss the chaingang! When does it come up on the Live tab and how long is it please?

Thanks again!

EDIT: Sorry, posts crossed - I'll go and look for it.
