Hello all,

So, following my disastrous first attempt at the chaingang the other night, where I managed to puncture after about 10k, I last night went on my first video ride in sunny Oklahoma. Great fun and a not-too-shabby 54 odd km.

The only trouble I have at the moment is that the turbo is gradually pivoting around on the front wheel, due to it being used on laminate flooring. Now, I am sure that one of you guys have had a similar problem so I wondered how you have cured it? Non-slip mats, or something? Do tell ;)

Thanks you guys!

Pedal backwards for half of the time and your spin back the other way!

Yep it used to happen to be and now I get the wife to hold the bike still and mix my drinks at the same time.

Bob.
My Pro started buzzing whilst not being used. It was the stepper motor struggling to get to the park position. Eventually it became so weak that it could not move to the correct postion and give appropriate resistance.

When it buzzes like that its either because the photo cell gate has failed or the magnet carrier is hard up against the stepper motor and it can't quite park.
Eventually it will jam there and the motor torque won't unlock it so your burn out the motor.
If your out of warranty or want to fix it yourself just take off the cover, undo the two screws holding holding the stepper motor on and put a couple of thin washers between the motor and the trainer body and put the screws back in.
Never had any problems since I did that and the motor parks every time.
This won't upset any settings at the Trainer nulls itself on the photo cell gate which is interrupted by a flag on the magnet carrier.

Well I never, AID seems to have done a more realistic time on stage 8.
Pep Tatche is probably going to blow him out of the water and I might even better him as well.
No that I am going to catch up on the 16 minutes or more he has on me and the 32 Pep has.

Bkool still has work to do in leveling up the playing field. Graham Ash amazingly develops more power and has a better W/Kg than you AAAC. However he is on some legs 10 minutes or so down on your times. Guess what he's using for a trainer?

I have just completed stage 4 in the summer cup. This is my 2nd attempt:B). Whilst trying slightly different strategies I was only 2 seconds different in time!

Going to have to miss tomorrow's handicap run due to meetings. I might be able to take a stab at it tonight if Geoff can post the info...

I found Graham quite realistic to race against in Stage8 tonight. He seems to have all the same disadvantages I have and I actually had a chance against him if I could have kept up my early pace. Which I couldn't of course. In the end he beat me by less than 2 minutes so quite happy with that.

I expect Pep will sling shot most of the way up the hills that took me a few minutes to climb.

Can't argue with stats.
I tend to loose out on high Watts/Kg averages when there are real downhills involved at it is really hard with my F/W to develop watts downhill and/or increase my speed significantly (which is to some degree reality).
This is demonstrated well in the Summer Cup Stage 5 on the descent starting just beyond km 19 where I peak at 76.6 kph with just 150 watts and Graham lays down in excess of 400 watts going downhill and averages much higher speeds descending.
It may be that he has to do this to keep moving KICKR but none the less the net result is a higher average watts/kg.
I'm not saying that Graham is not disadvantaged but I just can't physically keep the watts up on my turbo without either investing in a 56+T chainring or workiing on my spinning so that I could maintain 140 rpm for extended periods.
However extended periods of high cadence (regardless of the power being generated) normally results in an elevated HR and seeing as I might literally flat-line if I push myself over 165 bpm I have to settle for backing off on power going downhill.
It wasn't always so, at one point of SW/FW development I could maintain in excess of 350 watts descending without hitting much more than 110 rpm which I can sustain without having a heart attack.

I'll be using every trick in the book as well without on/off'ing or switching my turbo off when I'm doing 60 kph or more to create a flat line because it is just so obvious in the sats.

Talking about stats, I don't know how old Graham is but in stage 8 his HR peaks at nothing more than 130 bpm until the very end (when he hits 137) and at km 14.9 he recovers going downhill at 60 odd kph pushing in excess of 500 watts.
Showing a recovering HR whilst pumping 400 watts is a sign of being mega fit or the watts not being real.
At this point in the stage I will probably not peak above 55 kph and I will be on about 150 watts, having a bit of a rest, but my HR won't drop much from 155 or higher.

Calm ...... Calm...... Calm....... Bob thank you for assistance. I didn't realise you were having issues but the close target you provided and the drafting helped immesurably.

Bsim on the other hand :cursing::banghead::boxing::gun::gun::gun::gun::thumbsdown::banghead::cursing::cry::cursing::banghead::banghead:. Right no rude words. 55 'kin' minutes 3 'kin' minutes from the end 'BSIM' has stopped working, close program. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo:cry::cry::cry:

I may have managed a sub 1 hour time as well :surrender:.

Of to recover and wind down.

That is a nightmare Boxers! You'll feel better in a day or so and want to do it again so all good as you'll have burned all those extra calories. Hope you get your connection problem solved as you don't want this happening too often.

Watch out for that built in warranty timer they fit to all electrical goods nowadays so that they 'expire' shortly after the warranty period.
I do what I did once and buy and extended warranty and forget that you did and spend £50 on a new vacuum motor and then realise that you were covered!

In what way did it become unrideable, too much resistance?
Any other symptoms like noise or the like?

Yes, a wirring - though not grating- noise as the resistance overloaded and again as I pushed though and it eased off. Very similar to when I move from auto to manual ant+fec and the turbo recalibrates though it has never happened mid ride before. Nor had I reset it before the ride tonight. Seems ok now. I won't be on the turbo for another 10 days and will power it off while away. Hopefully all ok when I return.

Gawd, poor you boxers. I was really enjoying towing you on the flats, and some of the uphills though you were also putting the power down, and also enjoyed chasing you downhill! I thought you must have issues when you disappeared and such a shame because pretty sure you would have broken the hour. Well done any ways.

I think you have a good chance against A.I.D. as even I'm just 3 minutes or so away. But for Pep you'll need every trick plus some if he's going uphill at 60kph. I used to have a 5hp Suzuki AP50 that couldn't have kept up with him.
