Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Climb with adjusted rider weights to equalize Watts/Kg

Session is password protected, password is announced in the main thread as soon as the session is up and running!

Course is Cheddar Gorge Climb

The warm-up will start close to 8:00pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8:10pm BST (UTC+1).

Everyone taking part should adjust their weight to the allocated value before entering the warm up, preferably with at least 5 minutes to go.

Weights are generally reduced, in some cases considerably, to achieve the target Watts/Kg, so speeds should be higher than usual. The main part of the session should not take more than around 20 minutes, and in any case less than 30 minutes, to avoid changing Fitness Levels. Anyone taking longer than 30 minutes would be advised to discard their session without saving.

The Start (for everyone) should be between 8:05 and 8:10, when the warm-up ends.

Once underway, there is a short neutralized zone (0.0625 miles or 0.1 km) to avoid taking advantage of the lowered resistance at start, where no-one is allowed to overtake @JLaw (or if he is not present, you must gradually increase speed to a maximum of 20 mph (32 kph) until you pass the 0.0625 (0.1 km) point.

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out a weight Handicap from your FTP power value or similar.

How about we make next month's Handicap league go back to (individual) Time Trials? The number of people able to make the live races is increasing as we lose the light evenings!

We could use the month to clarify the team memberships, especially for the new guys, to try and get the teams ready for November, after the clocks change?

I'd like to try and get each team to have at least 4 riders most weeks, so will probably need 5 or 6 potential members each to allow for any no-shows.

Cheers,

Geoff

I'm up for this Geoff - the weight handicaps are great, but obviously harder to handicap correctly and the time trials are more fun I think. Obviously as you say, you do need enough people able to make the live race for them to work though! The time trials are great for coming across riders you don't normally see in a race, and for watching how quickly you're catching people and at the same time how quickly you're being caught....

Tommy, they did stop exporting to Strava automatically for a bit, but mine have started doing it again OK now - I haven't changed anything. There was quite a delay until my ride last night showed up on either Bkool or Strava though...

To do it manually, go to the ride details and in the third box down on the top right of the map (a blue box with an orange arrow coming out of it) there's the option to export the ride - choose the "fit" file option. Then just go to Strava and upload manually by choosing that Fit. file you've just downloaded.

Ah cheers mate

I thought I'd tried those boxes but guess I missed one...

73kg:cry: I was 64.5 last week and came mid back

It's not as steep a climb, so the Handicap doesn't need to give the heavier more powerful riders as much of a weight advantage.

Last time you did Cheddar you had normalized power of 344.4 Watts, which is truly impressive!

Hi Bill

Is there any chance I can have last nights veledrome/Madeleine session saved please? I hope the re-run isn't too late to save?

Cheers

Hi Jim. I noticed your Madeleine but didn't know if you'd re-done the velodrome or not. What is your new time for the velodrome and I'll get it into the results?

Just noticed that The Boxers has ridden 4385 km on his turbo this year :bravo:

That's 1km more than me :cycle:
I can not lie . I cheat , sort of. I do a descent ride each evening I do these sessions as a warm down. It's a good way of boosting your mileage without necessarily doing a full on session . Although, having said that, as I am losing weight the effort needed to do these sessions goes up as the inbuilt momentum generator shrinks .
