I guess I wanted to try and get the worst ones over while everyone still seemed to be brimming with enthusiasm. Maybe not the best plan as some seem to be put off from doing it.
Rides like this do tend to separate the men from the boys though , not in terms of speed, but in terms of those willing to slug it out to the end, no matter how long it takes.
Therefore much respect to you Whorty:notworthy:.
Yep, I may not be fast, but I will not be beaten by a little hump in the road  I love the challenge of the goat rides, even if they are painful and make me swear

Hey everyone,

Brought my BKool Turbo Trainer this week and really excited to get on and try one of the routes out. Not been on the bike for over a year now and wow really enjoyed 20 mins but it was hard! Cant keep up with you guys at the mo need some training. Anyone else in the same boat?

Any tips most welcome and eager to get back on.

Look forward to riding with other like minded beginners.

Cheers Chris
:welcome:

I'm probably the slowest of the group but it makes no odds. It's all about having fun, getting fitter and joining in the good banter. Join the leagues and challenge yourself to complete all rides; don't try to go too fast, just aim to finish. You can always have a second and 3rd attempt if you think you could have gone faster. Finishing a ride for me is key, as having to bail out because I've gone off too fast is a real downer (happened to me a lot early on).

I had technical issues joined 7 minutes late and no time for a warm up, found my self catching @Randyberlin powering up every little hump and bump making good progress then the next hump i powered up i was at 400 watts and 31mph over the hump slowed slightly still 400 watts stopped peddling still 400 watts ffs:cursing: then disconnected.

Generally been a s@#$ afternoon so rest day tomorrow :cuppa:.
They way you were riding today I needed more than a 7 minute head start .

Well done yourself Bob! I didn't think I'd be able to stay with you two tonight but as LB's plan was to help out and get us to the hill, that explains why I was able to. You seemed strong even though you had a slow start but you were soon putting in those sprints that probably tired you out. I'm guessing if you just sat on LB's tail as I did, we'd have had a bit of a fight at the end, which is where you were stronger as you ate into my advantage.

Thanks Bill,
Sorry about the sprints. At least they were longish ones but I only really did them when our average fell. They were tiring but that's not why I fell behind, I unclipped and by the time I got my right foot back in you two were almost a minute ahead. Now at a 49.5kph average even AAAC might struggle to make that time! So I decided to hang back and wait for some others but the gap was so big I got fed up and decided to have another go. So, I had the benefit of a bit of rest before I hit the hill.
It was a strange ride because I struggled to get going then felt good as long as the pace was 48-50. Anything less and I found it harder.Go figure. I think it's a cadence issue, I just find it easier at a cadence of 95 lungs and leg strength being equal.

Edit; I really wish we could find a way to agree slower starts! I cannot keep up!

The good old snow Queen , there are not many lodges left now just a few Garrison lodges when I first come over in 92 just about every regiment had a lodge . I was just down the road from the Reme lodge at the Hohne Garrison lodge . Best days of my life the days when we could drink all night then run a 9 min bft still drunk lol .

9 min!
In my Detmold days I was cracking 7:15 in DMS.
The long nights did slow me down though and by the time I got to Soest 9:30 was a good time.

It's very frustrating. In Thursday's Chain Gang the power readings were correct, but in the rerun I had periods with excessive power :cursing:. I thought it had something to do with the stages, but that is apparently not the case.

You going to give it a go Andy? If you do, use my ghost. I took it steady the first half to make sure I had something left in the tank for the finish. To be honest, I felt ok until about 6 km to go. Started to get cramp in calf at that point and the undercarriage was getting sore :$

I don't know if I am masochistic enough:laugh:

I wanted a nice and easy FLAT 20 miler^_^

Excuse, I am away from Monday night and got a ton of papers to sort before then. God I hate paperwork. If I dont pay the workmen/ trade accounts, there will be mutiny. I need them for my next big project! So got to keep them sweet. I have found a house in Rutland-shire that needs work, so we can move nearer to the reservoir. I then can cycle around it most days:smile:
