I'll be using 20 mile sections of flat instead of the velodrome so I won't be getting any drafting benefit, so you'll be able to hold the watts better which I'll be starting in a few days need to improve endurance at a faster pace.
When I set up a velo session I then set it to solo by putting a password on the session. No drafting and no slope variations.

I think I may have just setup a Velo HIIT session as well just now.:headshake::surrender:

I will update on both sessions tonight. No I will not be completeing both 40 odd minute sessions

You going to give it a go Andy? If you do, use my ghost. I took it steady the first half to make sure I had something left in the tank for the finish. To be honest, I felt ok until about 6 km to go. Started to get cramp in calf at that point and the undercarriage was getting sore :$
I'll try to use your ghost for pacing. I took a slow & steady ride halfway up the first goat ride -- I knew I didn't have time to finish, it was mostly to see if my meds were going to have any obvious adverse effects on my riding. They didn't appear to and since that ride is a long climb, pacing is going to be important.

I tried to sprint from the off to keep up with others but I'm shot after the first 1km. Then I tried a slower start, and I'm shot by 5km. Then an ever slower start, and i can ride for 10km. Hmmm, I think I've spotted my problem - not fit enough :headshake::cry:

I think I need to set up some HIIT sessions to get my body used to sprint and recovery :training:
And even with your slower starts you eventually catch me when I hit the wall and have to slow down, particularly on rides longer than 45 minutes.

Have a good ride @JLaw and I hope my ghost plays the role of Poels to your Frome! :-)

Ok no joy with the timed session. Power levels were not what I thought I'd set. All to low. A bit hit and miss.

The velo session was a bit better. I had the low sections working well, they went into erg mode at the power levels I'd set . But the high were not there:banghead:. I could kick it into gear by using the P key :cursing:. But I wanted to have it doing it automaticly. Also the 2x2 allowed too much rest time and the bkool 250w was not high enough to really stress me in a 2x2 set up :mrpig:.

http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSessionHistory/showSessionSummary/2979373

I need to play with the intervals durations, maybe a 2 high to 1 low. Also the high power levels may need to go up.

Still worked better than expected for a first atempt ^_^

Well done @LBHIFI  You gave me a sound thrashing up Col d'Aspin. I was really struggling during the first half as my legs were hurting. Couldn't get my heart rate up or make good power but I did seem to recover during the second half. No where near enough to get close to your time though.

Well I finally struggled through the bugs and the "Page not available's" to publish a quick Handicap Chase league for the rest of this month! It really is a mess at the moment.

There's one stage each week from the previous courses we used for the Team Time Trial, but this month I suggest we run each stage as an individual chase, basing the Handicaps on last springs times and approximating for new comers. Then we can use the results to qualify the teams for Team Time Trials next month, if we get enough interest.

So as before, each stage will be run live Tuesday evening, starting warm up at 7:50 so that the first off (the hare) is at 8:00 and the others start after their handicap time has elapsed. Unfortunately I have to pick up my wife from the airport tomorrow evening and I will not be back in time to start the ride, although hopefully I should be able to drop in to watch before the end!

@BILL S any chance you could start the warm up at 7:50pm tomorrow (tuesday) please? Then once other riders are underway, you can quit and rejoin at your Handicap time.

So anyone wanting to join this winter's Team Time Trials please post a time on each of the three stages, then we can hopefully get enough riders to form at least four teams, similar to last spring, but allowing for new riders and fitness changes since last time.

If you can't make the live sessions you have until just before the end of the month to post a time in each stage. They are not difficult sessions, and you do not need to kill yourselves, but your times should be representative of your fitness and will hopefully group you with like ability riders. I would aim for effort levels neither too low nor too high, less than but close to 100%.

I'll post initial Handicap times tomorrow, it would help if anyone interested in joining in would post here so I can be sure everyone has a time. I'm sure the initial Handicaps will be rough and the grouping at the end not so close, but we can tweak as we go along! :addict:

Cheers,

Geoff

I've just set up another 45 min Velo session 1m low (100-120w) + 2m high (250-275w) times 5, 5 min recovery then repeat. The last few minutes involve a 3min High 1min low then a 2 min high to end. I will have a crack at this tomorrow if there is no Handicap session planned.

See post above

Just done the latest stage of the Chaingang doing well until I hit the killer hill as i made a tactical error in that i choose my flat/undulating bike due to the gearing, should of kept my climbing bike, i could of over taken rob on the hill with seconds to spare but was down over 2 minutes.

So redoing it tomorrow as i know i can do better :boxing:

Got a PB for the course of -3.24

@gbrown No worries Geoff. I'll start the warmup tomorrow at 7:50 then once the race is started I'll exit then start at my handicap time.

edit: I have fond memories of the handicap chases. Back in the good old days when I was still able to beat @bridgy. :cycle:
Now he beats me by 10 minutes on a Mountain Goat race :B)

Well that's weird - just did goats league stage 1 and I could have sworn I finished sub 1.20 as I had that as a target and was quite pleased with myself! But then I see on the league results my time was actually 1.21 - I must have been going delirious with exhaustion!

Darn! the time penalty I applied against your name when I set up the league is only adding 10% of the specified time. :banghead:
