Well done:notworthy:

Now take a couple of days off the bike and let those muscles recover, repair and strengthen :okay:

Thanks. I am definitely taking a few days off the trainer

I did the Ventoux a long time ago, I actually 'bonked' and felt terrible for the whole day afterwards. Its the sheer length plus gradient combined

Way to offer encouragement to the Ventoux virgins. The more posts like this I see the more I think taking the day off is a good idea :surrender:

Just finished ventoux, my goodness that is an absolute beast of a ride. The hardest I have done

Took me 2hr08m.

My legs are now officially shot after doing aspin, chaingang, tourmalet, d'huez and ventoux on consecutive days
Looks like it'll be 2. 5 hours at least for me then. HID has plans tonight and wants me off the bike by 7 so I'm going to have to start my attempt by 4.30 Feel free to join if others want to jump on and chase me down!

I'm not so sure @Whorty, you beat me on Alpe D'huez the other day and hopefully you haven't been as silly as me doing all the sessions back to back. Good luck

Hi all,

I've absolutely no intention of cycling Ventoux at all... any time soon... ever.

Feel free to join me... :stop:

It's not that I don't do hills, I do... it's just very unattractive.

Don't say that @theboxers. Even though I'm shattered today it's a good one for the palmares. Go for it

I've just gone through my Goat and chaingang times for these stages I've done

Bonnette 1:55 14.3 miles fw assisted
Aspin 1:13 7.5 miles not fw assisted
Tourmalet 1.37 13.7 miles not fw assisted
d'Huez 1:16 7.6 miles not fw assisted

By fw assistance I mean actively seaking and using the quirks that make it easier to do these sessions. The fact that the trainer can not put enough resistance on to simulate my real weight, thus allowing me a faster speed, is inherant in the setup and can't be avoided.

The previous version of the fw would do a speed adjustment. This would give me speeds down as low as 1.4 mph on a 34/32 @60 cadence. The current fw has lost this function and I'm not going to complain about its removal .

I will be doing the Ventoux stage today. Why? is a question I'll be asking myself all the way through it though

Poor preparation caused my bonking, light breakfast, not enough fluid and no nutrition whilst going up the hill. I need food/gel after 1 hour. I began to feel terrible for the last few miles

I forgot to have some food ready - HID threw me a bag of Harribo with an hour to go.
I had a couple of consecutive weekends where I 'bonked' after a session on the trainer. The first time I'd ever experienced it.

The first I thought it was just tiredness. The second was like being 6 sheets to the wind and persuaded me to book a doctors appointment. At my weight type 2 is a risk and I needed checking. Not diabetic but I had to look at what was eaten and when on these days. It was not enough and the wrong types.

Now I have a gel or banana or flapjack available when I do these longer sessions. Lying on your back on the floor unable to get up or even roll over is not somewhere I want to go again  :headshake:
