LIVING THE DREAM
I suffered a lot there physically and mentally. Feeling weak after yesterday and watching everyone else gain more and more on me all the way up. In the end I just wanted it to be over.
TT you could have savoured all that. You too Bob ;)

I spent the whole ride fearing your new tyre Bill but you must have fitted it around your waist.

I loved the dead stop the beginning (not).
I sprinted out of the blocks as per normal Bkool competition rules thinking you won't get a dead stop out of the blocks but I was wrong however it appeared to then catapult me onto the next gradient and everyone was in my dust all of a sudden.

Where was Stig's ghost?
I didn't ever see him on the leader board so I assumed he was hidden hence me keeping going at a rate of knots.
I was also trying to get my blue hat back but I need to do 437 watts to get it which seems a bit high, probably why I lost it in the first place.

Watch out for wet leaves guys, I took a little tumble today, right at the start of a 30 mile ride on the nicest day we're likely to get for months!

On a short cycle path I had to go round a young lad waiting in the cycle lane, and coming back from pedestrian side to cycle path (carefully) the back wheel caught a slight difference in height hidden under wet leaves and refused to follow the front. Went down hard on my right side and gave my head a little bang, which worried me for a while!

I thought the rear derailleur was buggered, but it was just the electronics having pulled it in to avoid damage, a little test showed it still perfectly indexed!

I suggested the lad not wait in the cycle lane, but 10 minutes later, when I set off again he was still there, with another lad, forcing all the cyclist to detour round them. Hope I was the only one to go down!

Anyway, as bike was OK I decided to ride on with friends but when we stopped for coffee found it hard to walk, and by the time I got home could hardly hobble!

Feels like I have pulled a muscle at the top of my thigh, probably wrenching my leg as I went down clipped in. Bloody agony to walk now, hope ibuprofen gel and a nights rest sees it ease off!

Might be safer to stick to the turbo until the leaves have gone, or at least avoid leafy cycle paths!

No idea how the pros go down at speed and get back on, I was probably doing less than 6-7 mph and was surprised how hard I hit the path!

Geoff

Where was this cycle path Geoff?

Ouch! Hard luck Geoff - hope nothing too serious with the injuries. This kind of story's not going to do anything to tempt us Bkool addicts out into the dangerous real world this winter!

Meant to say.
Funny how you can't do math when you are huffing an' puffing.
I knew I had to do 4 W/kg to beat Stig's time but as I couldn't see him I didn't know how I was doing.
Knowing my weight is 80kg I worked out in my head whist under duress that this worked out to 400 watts as 8 goes into 40 4 times!!!!
I could have saved myself a lot of pain if I worked it our correctly at 320 watts but |I would have probably plumped for 380 to be safe.

I didn't join in today - feeling a bit rough this week, what with the changing weather, a bit of a cold, and 14 hour days. Going to be working long hours for the next few months so need to get into a routine that works for me and HID. Probably have a pop at the Goat ride on Tuesday if feeling a bit better .... you don't fancy joining me @Soarerv8 ?

Has anyone worked out how to scroll through live events on android yet? I've tried remote, mouse and keyboard but nothing allows me to see past the first event in either live, workout or velodrome.

On the main page I swipe down to the Live row and then use the arrows at either end of that row to scroll through sessions. On the Live search window I swipe/push up to scroll down and swipe/push down to scroll up. There is also a bar at the right of the search window that will scroll through the live events.

This is on a galaxy note pro

Having a good old fashioned skive

Gonna throw the hoover around in the general direction of the staircase but I think that's about all I'm committing myself to today. Well that, a disney film with the nipper (I'm thinking jungle book), and a bit of turbo action. It'll be the goat stage if anyone fancies it.

Many a true word spoken in jest AAAC. I know that you probably do fear my new tyre, only not on any of the courses that we've done recently or have coming up in our existing leagues. What I really need to help me out is some nice flat/downhill courses. If only I had a way of influencing whoever picks the league stages for Decembers chaingang ;):tongue:.

As for the start of yesterdays ride, it was probably my worst start ever because as we hit the dead stop more or less level, I was not paying attention and was still in top gear. Then I frantically tried to change down but my chain just started slipping round and then came off. By the time I got it back on everyone was gone!! Then started an hour of suffering the likes of which I have only ever felt on perhaps of a Sunday morning Ventoux or Madeleine league ride with the power in the low 200's most of the way .
