Sorry I couldn't contribute @BILL S - I did try with the last of my strength to give you a bit of drafting but as soon as we hit the 5% i do what i always do and dropped back :B) Couldn't hold off @Perky77 either, just too strong for me :notworthy: Enjoyed that though.

Whorty, you clung on amazingly well and for quite some time I wondered what I'd have to do to get away from you. Only thing I could do was rely on you tiring which happened eventually. Your power and endurance has come on amazingly. If I'd been feeling weak today I'd have been in real trouble.

I kept thinking I was going to fall on my sword I must admit. I so nearly bailed at 30 minutes....if there hadn't been that downhill run to the finish I would have definitely quit at 30 minutes, I was cooked by the time I reached the top. But feels darn good now.
It was almost comical how after you topped the hill your dot looked like a marble rolling a slope.
Thanks to whoever was giving encouragement as I approached the crest.
Also thanks to whoever used the new to me term stroppy. After I googled it I realized there is no American term even close.

I was in some discomfort just staying with you, but these days I can ride through the pain for longer. I just need to learn now how to get 250+ watt power on gradients of 4% to 6% as it's these sections where I always lose ground.

Am I right in thinking Randy, that because of the time difference, you have pretty much rolled out of bed and just cycled up a mountain?? That deserves a whole new level of kuodos. I think you just got yourself a Badass badge!

Anyone noticing how chopsy and obnoxious I am becoming now I've just beaten a few poeple up a hill? I can already sense people familiarising themselves with the 'blocking' function.
There's a blocking function????!!!!! :addict:

Well done on your ride though @Add - does this mean you're "back"....?
I don't know really. I was just as surprised as you lot at how that went to be honest. I was just hoping to stay with Monte when I was on the start line, but once I got a good start off the line, I just kept trying to stretch the lead, and somehow managed to. I think it was as much a good day for me as it was an off day for the likes of Bill and Bobski.
I did feel good though, and I'm sure my bike felt smoother, if that's possible, after some liberal lubrication. I just don't know is the honest answer, but obviously, I hope so!

I am always nervous on the start line and trying to second guess who is going to do a flyer and should chase them. The have I got it in my legs today and why am I putting myself through this torture and so on and then the 4 blips go off and its all eyes on the screen and get those legs moving.
Yesterday I was hoping for a PC crash so I could leave with no loss of kudos but when it didn't I just had to hang in.

@Whorty - just looked at my stats and I averaged 312 watts for that course which I have to admit I'm very happy with that, so I definitely lost fair & square - well done.

@Add - good to see you back where you belong, letting a fat boy like me stay on your wheel must of been a good motivator, lol.

I need to start my training in the kitchen as I'm certainly working hard enough on the bike.

It won't be me Adam - I have deadly man-flu currently and it's all I can do to drink this glass of red wine let alone do a bike ride.

I am not expecting any sympathy from you lot though....

Stop right there bridgy! Banter aside the words "man flu" are enough to describe your desperate plight. Please accept my heartfelt commiserations and I am sure I speak for us all when I wish you a speedy recovery:okay:. ;)

GWS, I think you youngsters say...

Well I survived the velodrome without breaking any bones this time. Some great drills but gutted to be beaten by my son on the 500m time trial by 1.5 seconds, it meant I had to buy him a pint. I'm letting him have the glory and haven't reminded him I did 62 cold miles yesterday.
