I don't know really. I was just as surprised as you lot at how that went to be honest. I was just hoping to stay with Monte when I was on the start line, but once I got a good start off the line, I just kept trying to stretch the lead, and somehow managed to. I think it was as much a good day for me as it was an off day for the likes of Bill and Bobski.
I did feel good though, and I'm sure my bike felt smoother, if that's possible, after some liberal lubrication. I just don't know is the honest answer, but obviously, I hope so!

There's a slight possibility that I could have stayed with you if I hadn't done the chaingang ride lastnight but I couldn't have bettered you by much if at all. I was surprised at your speed today but I remember when you made your comeback last year you ended up bloody quick up the hills. I think you have a better w/kg than me on the hills but it doesn't seem to work out that way on the less hilly chaingang rides. Could be tyres causing that. What I have noticed since not so recent F/W changes took place is that I am really struggling with my 11/25 rear ratio when it comes to anything 10% or over, whereas it used to be no problem at all. It's definitely got much harder for me than it was a year or two back. I suppose it's probably just a lot more realistic these days.

Stop right there bridgy! Banter aside the words "man flu" are enough to describe your desperate plight. Please accept my heartfelt commiserations and I am sure I speak for us all when I wish you a speedy recovery:okay:. ;)

GWS, I think you youngsters say...
Pfffft, you certainly don't speak for me! You go ahead and drag out that recovery Bridgy!

Bill, exactly why I went out and got me an 11/32.

Watched the goat stage and there was some impressive watts being pumped out, have to say that Whorty was putting in a good fight .

Redid the chaingang session and knocked off 18 minutes 22 seconds, slept so well i didn't even get up for a pee during the night which is a change. got to berty bassett at 45 seconds but the gradient changed and lost more time.

Biill, what he said. I have an 11-28 and try to stay off the 28 on anything below 10%. I have no idea how you manage with a 25 especially with the firmware changes. I suspect if you get a 28 we may all regret it.
I think the 28 would be spot on with 32 being overkill, but I do have a 32 which I got for the DD and it was perfect for that. Not sure whether to get a 28 as it's only useful for me on the mountain goat stages. What I should maybe do is put on the 32 and see if it works ok for chaingang rides and if its ok then it'd be a good one size fits all. @AAAC 76C how do you find the 11/32? Do you find the ratios are too spaced out at all?

Yep the downside of spreading your block is finding the right gear as one sprocket can be to low and you loose power and the next too high and your slogging but its better than not having a gear left to go to.

Bill is it a complete cassette you have the 32t on? If so do you know what ratios you have on your 11-32(?) cassette? I.e you may have a 28t on it? You may be able to mix the two cassettes you already have together, to suit what you need.

Good thinking Tommy. I've never thought about trying that but it could be worth a go.

Counting down the days to proper turbo training, dumb trainers are dumb.

I see bkools had an update, have to get a nosey at it. While I prefer zwift for longer rides, bkool was brilliant for targetting climbs

I've never used anything other than my DD set up Bill. Worked a treat on that goat stage today!
It certainly did Adam. I think my 11-25 has made me quite fussy with the ratio's so I like Tommy idea of trying to swap out the 25 for a 28 and just have the one big ratio jump if it's possible.

I think Adams monster hill climb has crashed the bkool site. Anyone else having trouble logging on? I started late, and after the race jumped off the bike and legged it out the door, so haven't had a chance to see the standings.
