Love Marty's perfectly flat high power high cadence run

Yeah, I was looking at them in Strava. There's a lot of potential for blowing up on that hill at the end:ohmy:

@AAAC 76C and @Monte

Thanks, I'll have another look tomorrow. The magnets weren't touching the flywheel, but the stepper motor wasn't doing it's thing. I did wonder about the magnet plate as when I wound the magnets down the shaft there seemed to be a little play.
Checked this morning, the nuts are tight, all cables are plugged in correctly, the magnets did move towards the centre but then stopped, no attempt to come back to the park position.

It's quite possible I'm missing something obvious as you, Monty and Andy have managed to repair yours. I have checked and double check against you advice, so am thinking its knackered.

Edit: some good news wiggle have confirmed it is within the warranty period.

Kipster it's still under warranty albeit 5 days left. Get a return slip/number from wiggle.

My findings were the motor has gone low torque, so unable to move with force of magnets pulling against flywheel.

Low torque usually comes from carbon deposits between armature winding contacts.

Last ditch attempt repair would be to strip motor down carefully . Clean between the contacts by scraping and spraying contact cleaner. Lightly lube bearings whilst there.
Reassemble and hope you did a good job.

I'm the same. Last thing I do at night before bed is make sure everything is switched off. Does this mean all this time, by turning off my unit after use, I've been gaining a slight advantage ;-) Sorry @soarerv and @Jimbrown LOL
No I believe the word you were looking for is massive not slight. You are the Lance Armstrong of the back end Charlie's.

Personally if it is within warranty get them to repair it. If it looks like you've tried to fix it the warranty could be voided.

I agree. When my in laws Pro failed just like what happened to Kipster. He sent it back to wiggle. Wiggle just sent a complete brand new unit with all the bits and bobs within a day or so. My BIL didn't tell me this though, he kept quiet for a few months despite not even opening the new Bkool pro unit. My best efforts for him join and to use it with us in cyclechat have failed. So sod him,
I'll have 2 trainers until asks for it back, which I doubt.

Returns slip done, will get it shipped tomorrow. I'll leave it to the suppliers to replace or fix as they see fit. Looks like i'm without a turbo for a while, it's a good job the weather has warmed up!

Quiet possibly, i'll have to take my chances for the cost of the return postage. I thought it was 1 year else I wouldn't have taken a look at all, i'm too impaitient.

Hopefully Wiggle will just send you a replacement trainer Kipster - I had to send my original one back to Wiggle and there was no suggestion of trying to repair it, just a straight replacement. Also, they said they don't charge for return postage if the product is faulty (otherwise it was £20 I think?) so it's worth pointing this out. My only (slight) complaint with the process was that it took about 2 weeks to get the replacement from them - this was very frustrating at the time as I'd only had the trainer a few days when it broke!

How lucky are you though, being within 5 days of the warranty expiring - result!! :highfive:

Assessment and repair are mentioned in the faulty returns over 30 days. Given the age of the unit they will probably go down this route.

I see - mine was only a few days old so very different circumstances I guess. Having said that, Monte sent a Pro unit he wasn't happy with back to Wiggle well outside the 30 days (I'm thinking just under a year old?) and they were happy to refund him in full so you never know!

It seems that they are very happy to replace units. Makes me wonder if there a lot of returns and that they just send them back to bkool. Bkool make most money out of the subscriptions anyway and can afford to send out new units.
