Yes, better by 25 seconds thanks to you, though it was really tough going. I feel like I need a beer and to collapse on the sofa!

Are you still off form a bit?
I got the feeling that you may not have pushed so much if I wasn't there.
That's why when I got ahead a bit I didn't come straight back for you rather just keep a carrot dangling.
You fought back well quite a few times and at one point I mistimed my power on into a descent and you dropped me like a stone.
I found it pretty hard having done it already, my lungs and heart were willing but my legs were tiring.
It's harder sometimes trying to work with someone else on BSim because of the different way the Sim reacts.
I also had a dead stop second time around but not a snip of one when I did it earlier.
My earlier session was another one of those where you get your speed on and BSim just seems to keep you going completely missing some shorter inclines because of the delay in onset of resistance.

No form at all really and power well below where I would expect it. I nearly blew a gasket on that last 3.9% hill... it just went on and on....
I feel that I'm suffering some sort of burnout, I just feel exhausted all the time. Then again spending 5 hours in the car today probably hasn't helped!

Back off for a week and just do some recovery rides to keep the legs spinning.

It's the ability to make myself back off that's the problem! Whenever I load up a ride I keep looking at other ghosts and getting too competitive!
What sort of length ride and ascent should a recovery ride be for best effect?

Thanks for waiting for me @BILL S and giving me a bit of a draft. I was struggling to stay with you but any little helps :okay:

I overdid it at the start Whorty so thought I'd wait and then ride with you, but then I thought I was just slowing you down so decided to bail. Might try for a better time later, not that I'm unhappy with my yesterdays time.

I can be a long as you like but stay in zone 2. As this is quite slow you wont want to be going too far.
Load a ride with no one in it and just bimble along, watch a film or listen to music so that the cycling becomes the secondary activity.
Don't watch a bike race because you will find yourself joining in with the pace and definitely don't watch track racing.
Darts or Snooker would be OK but then you might fall asleep.

Definitely not slowing me down. I was on my limit trying to stay with you! I was planning to ride with @Goldwolfie 's ghost, but riding with you got me a better time by over a minute :okay: and got GW a Bingly-Bong e-mail

My zone 2 is 239 to 325 watts and HR is 103 to 121 - Do those sound fair? Watts seem quite high for a recovery!

Just use your HR as a guide, 120 won't be busting a gut.
Both Bill and I went through a spat about a year ago where we had been competing in league rides and trying to top the stats tables in climbing etc.
As you get older you need a bit more recovery time which why I limit myself to 3 rides a week.

Apologies to everyone who was looking for the handicap ride tonight, no excuses, I just plain forgot! I'll set a reminder on my phone for Tuesday from now on!

Geoff

No worries Geoff. I think it was going to be a quiet ride anyway based on the lack of posters on here last night. I was going to do the winter cup first, then the handicap, but seeing as I lacked energy to even finish the winter cup ride I was quite glad there was no handicap race.

DP, watts on Bkool arent real, ride with heart rate for recovery, you're not concerned with what power it is. 120-130bpm will be just fine, about an hour or so. Drop out of racing till you feel fresh again, might be a week or a month.

There are plenty of long rides which wont tax you, drop onto the little ring on the front and tootle away
