That should work. The only obvious way is to fit it and see if derailleur clears the 34t cog, it can be adjusted with 'b' screw and also is chain long enough. That's what I do try first, the n sort out why it doesn't work. My new bike Shimano only recommend 38t on the crank but I wanted just a little more so fitted a 40t chainring. What I'm saying is bike specifications can be stretched a little

I have a Boardman 4ep Road bike from Halfords. When I bought it 18 months ago they threw in 3 years free labour on any work, so I'd get them to fit it (my mechanical skills are pants!). I just about know how to blow air in the tyres (couldn't get the wheel off when I had a puncture so even had to take that to the shop ). But, hey ho, thankfully I don't need those skills to put a meal on the table else I'd have died of hunger by now

I'm not sure what a Boardman 4ep is, but you'll need the same make (shimano/Sram etc) as you currently have, and the same number of gears. So if you're currently on a 9 speed Sram that may well be ok. But if you currently have a 10 speed shimano, then no!

Would the front stay the same as 50-34, or does that need to change? I'll be off to Halfords and get this sorted in the next few weeks

I'm doing the Build Phase - sustained power build, high volume. It was two hours on Saturday morning as well

My build block is low level, so max ride time is 2 hours. Couple that with Teide and I think I have plenty. I've had a couple of days off due to be being feeling just under par,. JD and coke cured me !

@Whorty take a photo of the rear derailleur from side on with the chain on the 28t sprocket. It will give us an idea if the derailleur has enough space to take a bigger cassette
