Just got back from Sherwood Pines MTB outing with club. Great weather and the red route is really technical. Lots of potholes, burms, jumps, switchbacks. Tree stumps galore to catch you out. Did one little pacey loop, called it day with a twinged back after grounding pedal on a stump.

At least 5 fallers in the club with various cuts and dents to helmets. I nearly came a cropper on a fast downhill section where I was caught by a jump and landed front wheel first. Only the bikes decent suspension saved me from flying over bars-phew. No Gopro . Club captain tried a combo jump and landed on the second peak, ouch bruised plums:laugh:
Maybe we should do a cyclechat MTB weekend another excuse to buy another bike, liked mtb'ing but a bit dangerous by your self being a Billy no mates:whistle:

Blimey I go out of my garage for several months then think to myself I better see if my avatar is still alive (he appears to hear been living quite well in my absence) then thought I would come and look at Cyclechat to see if it was full of a thrusting new cycle crowd but no, turns out it is still the same warmly odd bunch I remember so fondly. Glad to be back, which way round do I sit on the bike again?

Good to see you back. There is an update to do before the rerun race today.

LIVING THE DREAM
Hi Randy. Its getting better slowly thanks, I'm having to make sure I try and walk, stretch and massage but it's all painful stuff. Night's are the worst as I'm just in constant pain and the drugs don't seem to work...
I've managed to stop taking morphine in the day so that's good but walking is very painful even with a crutch. On the plus side mummy pig allowed me to have a beer last night- she's being very strict and has control over the key for the beer cupboard!
One positive is I don't mind getting up early with the baby as she helps take my mind off things especially when she's sick all over me!
Should be physio on the next couple of weeks, mri and then seeing what the big picture is!
My aim is to be able to do the CG rides all together at the end of the month so watch out @theboxers and @Goldwolfie!

Takes me back to when my son was a toddler.
I'd just had surgery on my nose to open my airways and I was holding him up when he headbutted me.
That blinking hurt!

I vividly recall coming down a mountain in the Brecon Beacons on my Gary fisher Joshua , hitting a boulder and being thrown quite a distance and landing frigging hard, dislocating my shoulder for the first time.it HURT! No way will I do anything other than light trail riding ever again. I do ask that if you all do meet up that each has a go pro  ^_^

I gather you've drunk 10 bottles of wine and either fallen into a puddle or over a poodle?

Not really, just joshing.
I was having my eyes tested today so my eyeballs needed to be the right shape.
Ordered my new bins, £450 with a 10% discount.

Yay good to see you are still here Berty, that is worrying news that Whorty has got all professional, next thing you are going to tell me is he has now fitted cleats to his slippers. Will aim to be there for 5 for the rerun if I am still a member, is this the one we used to run with a handicap?

Good to see you too Randy, been away from the garage PC was impressed to see that it wasn't still on Windows 95! Remind me what time the Saturday rerun is?
5 o'clock UK time.

I'll not be there tonight - legs still sore after last nights ride (of same course). Spinning sessions like that leave the legs a little tingly

I'm going to try a new technique today.
Not sure what it will be but all my old ones won't work for sure.
Drafting won't work ! As soon as you get to another you'll shoot past, and likewise when they get to you  Just keep power high, especially on the lesser slope gradients, and have a good workout. @theboxers may have us on this course but he's seen the next two courses and we should be able to get some time back on him

No handicap in today's race other than the being in shape. Its a downhill run so the advantage is to those of us husky riders. See you there
