Well it is the weekend Randy and that is a little bit like work.
Way more. I see @kipster with a face covered in mud and @Breedon wiping out on ice breaking his derailleur and @berty bassett riding in the cold and I think that @keithaitch is sitting under an awning enjoying a gentle evening breeze sipping a latte and just a little bored. It's the least I can do.

Seriously, Thanks Keith.

1:38:42 for me but I had a mare!

Thursday's ride was cut short on the hill as the belt on the Kickr snapped. Put another on today and did the re-run (earlier than others) to set a time. Was going OK until I got the 8-10% sections on the hill when the belt started slipping :banghead: Don't get wheel slip on the Pro so mega frustrating to get it on the Kickr. I was about 1 min 20 secs behind Del at that point and closing in ... anyway, got off the bike and tightened up the belt further and this seemed to help. I'm now 6 mins down on Del so not great

I then hit a 4.7% section (which had followed a -3%) section, and the resistance on the trainer stayed like I was on a downhill. Problem is, I was spinning out so couldn't push much watts. As such Bkool was seeing my 90 watts, on a 4.7% incline and setting my speed as something silly like 5 kph ... needless to say everyone else on the ride just zoomed past me - probably lost another minute on that section. Then, on the final -13% the resistance stayed high so I'm having to grind my way 'up' a -13% down ... FFS, more time lost.

After these frustrations I was shot on the downhill sections and nothing left in the legs. Ave watts by now had dropped below 220 (watts were over 240 when I started to get the belt slippage).

A frustrating ride, all in all
That does sound annoying. From what you say, hard to know how much of that was down to hardware vs software problems

Slippage def hardware. I'm pretty sure the resistance is software (or loss of connection between BSIM and trainer) though ...probably happens on Pro too but less obvious there maybe?

It was a good workout but frustrating when you see riders who were over 5 mins back suddenly up the road

Just been reviewing the league so far, and it looks like the team will most likely be @AAAC 76C, @CXRAndy , @TurboTommy and myself, plus either @BILL S , @peterob or @JJRobinson. As jjrobinson and peterob haven't yet set a time on stage4 it will probably come down to what they can do on that stage and how it compares to Bill's time of 1:11:18. Peterob with his nose ahead after stages 1-3 but still all to play for.......let us know how you get on guys!
Nice to be up there close(ish) to you lot but still a bit of work to do for me to get there I think. I will of course do the last stage but for team sake I think it should be between @BILL S and @peterob... :notworthy:

you do yourself a disservice JJ smash stage 4 and let the clock decide, i'm sure neither @BILL S nor @peterob will mind sitting in the seat of pride (king of the reserves).

I'll hopefully get a chance today to try NCQ4 as long as HID gives me time off for good behaviour from decorating the bedroom

Talk about mixed emotions...

The way I was feeling halfway round I was just determined to cross the line for my own pride. Dead legs, heart rate going crackers and huffing and puffing like no mans business!

But then the legs decided to join the party! Better late then never eh. And Bill gave me a real boost just before the hill and I though “f#ck it, may as well bury myself and see what happens!”. I couldn’t believe it when I saw bill’s group at the top of the hill. When they’d dumped me near the start I never expected to see them again. Now within minutes I’d gone from riding for pride and trying to consolidate as much as possible, to being in a position where I could put some time into the people around me!

And then it happened... even when the screen froze I thought it would sort itself out. After a couple of minutes I thought “well that’s the time I clawed back gone, but just let me cross the bloody line!!

I’m glad I stepped away from the keyboard for a couple of hours because I feel a lot more philosophical now. These things happen to everyone from time to time. I’ve got one more window of opportunity to get this done. Tomorrow is London zoo with a bunch of four year old lunatics. But Monday will be BKOOL judgement day! ^_^

Let me know what time you're planning on riding on Monday Tommy and I may join you if I can't do NCQ4 today
